Published at the height of the Great Depression, this vintage Pathfinder political news magazine gives an interesting glimpse into the United States government workings and world affairs for the week of May 14, 1932.
Billed as the "Digest of World Affairs" and written in a breezy, and in what we would say today, snarky manner, the Pathfinder provided weekly reports from Washington D.C. covering the workings of the Senate and Congress, international relations, business, science, current events, and various curious bits of news. Each volume included a short story, a book review, a gossipy "Personalities" column, a selection of political cartoons, and ads.
This particular issue includes an editorial on "Lady Politicians," an article on Secretary of State Stimson and a Geneva conference on disarmament and world peace, "Foreign Tabs" on China, Nicaragua, Finland, Germany, Philippines, Irish Free State, and France, a piece on Sinclair Lewis, and so much more.
Genuine vintage not a recent reprint, this vintage political magazine was printed on newsprint paper which has toned from age yet remains supple. There is a small mailing label with the subscriber's name and town (Kessel W VA) on the cover.
