This large round wooden spool knitter is a wonderful vintage knitting tool. I love that it is a rustic handmade knitting loom on which you can make handmade knitted items. It can also be used as a knitty noddy. The wood loom would be an amazing display piece in a weaving or arts and crafts studio.


Approximately 7 1/2" tall
Approximagely 6 1/2" diameter

I am not sure of the age of this loom. It came from the estate of an avid crafter who did most of her work in 1960s - 1980s.

Beautiful set of six (6) Indonesian batik napkins, these cotton cloth napkins are hand printed in an intricate indigo blue and brown design.

The napkins have never been used and are in excellent vintage condition. One of the napkins has the set's original silver foil tag -- Taplak Makan Bulat. The set was purchased in Indonesian in the 1970s.

Napkins measure approximately 11" square. Four napkins are not hemmed on one side.

High-quality vintage lizard skin handbag, this beautiful 1950s purse is a classic. The bag's timeless design will carry you from day to evening in style.

Made of a fine grain lizard skin, the brown bag has a gold metal frame and clasp, pull tab for ease of opening, four metal feet on the bottom, one inner zipper pocket, two additional pockets which include the handbag's original hand mirror and the other a small change purse.

The handbag is in very good vintage condition. The interior is clean -- no odors, no stains.

Exquisite Japanese obi sash, this smaller version of a formal maru obi has an elaborate peony and butterfly design in shades of orange, a traditional color for a child's obi sash, with accents of gold and blue.

Woven from silk, the obi belt is heavy weight and rather stiff. This beautiful vintage textile would make an amazing wall hanging. This early 20th century child's kimono obi belt could also be used as a table runner.

Insects, a perennially favorite reading subject for children, are rendered in beautiful lithographs in this vintage children's book.

A Child's Book of Insects by Sy Barlowe published in 1952 by Maxton Publishing is filled with information along with detailed bug art in color and in black & white. The front cover binding is quite decorative with a dandelion and various bugs including a dragonfly, butterfly, & bees. I could envision the volume displayed cover out on a shelf in a nursery or child's room.

The book once belonged to the Cedar Grove, NJ School system and has a stamp on the inside front endpaper "Aug 1960 Property of Board of Education of Cedar Grove." Other than the stamp, it is free of marks. It does has a ripped page (see photography 4). Several other pages have small tears near the bottom that do not interfere with the insect pictures. The spine shows some wear most notably at the bottom and at the edges.

True vintage late 1950s - early 1960s navy blue faux straw hat in original Jordan Marsh hat box is sophisticated and elegant, perfect for a special occasion or garden party. The hat's wide sun brim is woven from a glossy faux straw raffia-like ribbon and accented with a matching navy blue velvet bow. The crown is covered with fabric.

The hat's original price tag is in the box but not attached to the hat. The hat looks as if it was very gently worn. It has no makers label or size label. The hat was attic stored in its hat box and could use a good airing. The hat box is in good structural condition. It has approximately an 8" split on the bottom and is faded from sun exposure.


Hat fits like a small- medium
21 1/2" inner circumference
Brim measures approximately 3" at the back and 4" at the sides and front
Crown is approximately 4" tall

This is a beautiful, high-quality vintage hat!

Vintage fleur de lis with a gold gilt finish broke off the top of a French provincial style lamp decades ago. The lamp is long gone. The finial made its way to the garage where it hung on a hook until I recently picked it up and brought it into the house.

Ripe for repurposing, this cool bit of salvage can be used as a wall hanging or worked into a new arts & craft project.

The fleur de lis is in very good condition. I'm not sure of the piece's composition. There is a seam running along the sides indicating that it was made in a mold. It is not hollow and has some heft to it.

Approximately 9 1/8" tall by 4 5/8" at its widest by 1 1/4" deep.

This classic black handkerchief is a sophisticated retro accessory. There was a time when a woman would never leave the house without a hanky tucked into her handbag.

This is a lovely mid-century cotton handkerchief with an embroidered floral design in one corner. The hand-rolled edges are in excellent condition. Hanky was gently, or possibly never used. It's freshly laundered and ready to join your collection.

Although there is no content label, the fabric feels like cotton.

Food Surprises -- such an odd name for a collection of traditional recipes adapted for the new Mirro aluminum cookware line produced by the Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company.

Launched in 1917, Mirro's aluminum cookware was advertised to insure "Long Wear and Little Care."

The small & slim culinary pamphlet contains 14 recipes with illustrations showing off the food in various Mirro aluminum pots and pans. The booklet gives an interesting glimpse into American food of the early 20th century.

For a circa 1918 pamphlet publication, the booklet is in amazing condition. The cover is bright and the pages are clean.

Victorian hat pin, this antique piece of jewelry shows a fine example of 19th-century micro mosaic work. Set into a flower-shaped brass casing, the each petal has star insets. The centerpiece has a lovely daisy design.

Measurements: Total length: 9 1/8"; Pin Shaft 9"; Micro Mosaic measures just shy of an inch.

The pin is in good condition. It shows wear and has a nice patina of age. There are a few chips on the setting. The pin shaft is straight and has some worn spots.

Unique handmade wood world globe was made long ago by a woodworking enthusiast in his basement workshop. The continents were carefully carved into the wooden orb's surface along with the outlines of various countries.

The unusual wooden globe fits into a wood base. The piece looks as though it might have been meant to be a staircase banister finial. No matter what its original purpose, the vintage wood globe would look great as an office accent, library decor, or paperweight.

The wood globe and base show wear including chipped veneer and a few red ink-like spots on the base and above South America.

The 4" diameter globe stands approximately 7 1/2" tall on its wood base.

This Second Reader in Appletons' School Readers series is filled with charming illustrations, handwriting samples, stories and rhymes.

Appleton produced a very successful series of school reader books authored by leading educational specialist of the time - William Torrey Harris, Andrew Jackson Rickoff, and Mark Bailey.

Published in 1882, the book was used in its time and shows wear. The spine cover is missing and the stapled binding is exposed. The corners are beyond bumped. The book has soiling, pages are browned with age, some are chipped and dog eared. The former owner, Deforest M. Hatfield, wrote his name several times on the front endpapers along with "Pittston Dec 17."

Deforest Hatfield -- I couldn't resist looking up what I could find about him. Deforest Merriman Hatfield was born in 1873 and died in 1932. He married Lily Belle Morris. They had two daughters, Annabel and Adele. He is mentioned in the March 1909 "The American Tailor and Cutter" trade journal as having displayed a sack coat at the Open Garment Exhibition in Wilkes-Barre, Pa on March 10 & 11, 1909. He was a tailor and advertised in the Pittston Gazette "For a stylish tailor-made garment go to De Forest H. Hatfield." He was a member of the Masonic Valley Lodge No. 499 in West Pittston.

From its beautiful cover, to the lovely drawings, to the informative and lively text, The Cathedrals of Northern France by Francis Miltoun is an architecture travel book you'll want to have in your library collection.

Published in 1904, the book documents the history and construction of cathedrals across Northern France. The book includes newspaper clippings reporting the destruction of Rheims Cathedral by the Germans in 1914. Many of the cathedrals studied in this book were destroyed during the World Wars I & II.

The book is in good condition. The front endpaper is splitting from the biding and the first few pages of the book before the title page are beginning to split from the book, but the binding is tight. Pages are clean. Decorative cover shows typical wear at the corners and around the edges. Book has a gift inscription and former owner's name written in ink.
