A.T.A. Standard Type Book published in 1951, also referred to as the A.T.A. Perpetual Type Book, was developed by the Advertising Typographers Association of America between 1925 & 1948. This set was printed by William Patrick Co., Inc in Newark, N.J.

Publishers, printers, lithographers & graphic artists used this reference to select type face from hundreds of type specimen sheets. The binders are filled with type specimens in their available points and weights.

The Forward in binder number 1 of this four volume set states "This set of A.T.A. Perpetual Type Book, comprised of three volumes, is No. 107 and is presented to Multi-Color Lithographers Newark, N.J." The fourth volume may have been added over time as the Standard Type Book was designed to be expandable as new type faces were developed and published.

This 4 volume set of type specimens is a typography gold mine for an artist or crafter.

Housed in very sturdy brown loose-leaf binders with gold stamped titles, the volumes are in good over-all condition. The binders were obviously used day-to-day and show wear. Some of the pages are soiled. Volume II has pink paint on the edges of the pages and binder (see photograph 3). The binders appear to be full and there are about 50 additional type face pages that are separate from the volumes.

Each binders measure 11 3/4" x 10" x 1 3/4".

Sweet angel asleep in a rocking chair with an open book on his lap is simply adorable. This vintage ceramic sleeping angel figurine has no mark but is most likely Japan-made circa 1950s. The charming cherub is hand painted and has gold trim. The ceramic chair is lined on the bottom with green felt.

The angel is in good vintage condition with typical wear for a 1950s ceramic figurine. There is some paint loss but no chips or cracks.

Figurine measures approximately 4 3/4" tall x 2 3/4" wide x 3 1/4" deep.

This 1960s portrait of a woman holding an umbrella was produced by Hair Style of Month, Chicago, advertising hairstyles in beauty salons across the United States. Artfully photographed, the honey and apricot colors enhance the model's light auburn hair.

This is an original poster. It was displayed in a Chicago hair salon and shows wear. The poster is doubled sided. One side of the poster is faded from sun exposure. Printed on heavy plastic coated paper, the poster has some chipping around the edges. The poster was stored rolled for many years in a protective sleeve.

I have a collection of these amazing hair style posters. Several of them would look phenomenal grouped together for a retro hair salon decor display.

Time Life Books publicity magazine for the 1964 New York World's Fair is an informative blast from the past. Sponsored by the American Gas Association this "Official Preview" of the fair was "reported" by the popular NBC television news anchors Chet Huntley and David Brinkley. The magazine is filled with photographs of the fairground construction, buildings, and layout, as well as fanciful and funny illustrations by cartoonist Whitney Darrow.

The magazine shows typical age-related wear. The cover is splitting from the stapled binding and there are tears around the edges of the cover. The inside pages are clean and in good condition.

Mod pink gloves with fringe, picture them worn with a groovy retro mini skirt and boots. These circa 1960s light-weight knit gloves are the perfect vintage accessory for the first chill of fall. The bit of fringe adds to their retro charm.

The gloves do not have a content label. From the feel of them, I'd say they were knitted from acrylic yarn.

There is no size label. I'd say they are a small. Gloves are in good condition.

Gloves measure 8" from the tip of the longest finger (middle) to the end of the cuff, and are 3" wide across the palm at the bottom of the thumb.

Neely's Parliamentary Practice is an historically significant vintage law book outlining government and organizational procedures or rules of order. Starting with a detailed definition of a parliamentary body, the book gives succinct guidance on parliamentary assembly, procedure, questions, precedence, committees and commissions, meetings, laws, business, rights, duties, and powers. The book also includes a section on parliamentary practice in ecclesiastical organizations.

The contents of Bishop Thomas B. Neely's small book of parliamentary rules is important enough to warrant availably in digital e-book format. But why not own a physical copy of the original 1914 edition?

The slender volume is in very good condition for an 100-year-old book. The red clothbound cover has a lovely art nouveau floral decoration on the cover. The author's name and book title are gold leafed on the cover and spine. The corners show typical age-related wear around the edges. Several of the front pages look as if they had been paper clipped together at one point as you can see the clip imprint in the paper. Pages are clean. Binding is tight.

The book comes with a typed copy of a "Summary of Robert's Rule of Order" that I found tucked inside the volume.

The book would make a great gift for a lawyer or government official.

Krementz, literally the gold standard in jewelry from 1866 through the 20th century, made quality 14K gold and electroplated jewelry in Newark, NJ.

Shiny Brite, the iconic American Christmas ornament company produced a fantastic array of glass holiday baubles from the late 1930s into the 1960s. This set of lantern-shaped glass ornaments have red, green & white stripes. They came to me tied with the red ribbon you see in the photographs and I have kept the ornaments together.

The ornaments have lost most of their silvering. One of the ornaments has a replacement metal top which is marked "Poland" and doesn't quite fit the bulb. The other one has metal cap marked "Shiny Brite Made in U.S.A." The ornaments have typical signs of aging with spots, paint loss, & discoloration.

One ornament is approximately 2 3/4" long. The other one is about 3" long.

Antique John Lewis Childs Illustrated Catalogue & Guide to Bulb Culture has a beautiful color lithograph cover with images of tulips, calochortus, and other flowering bulbs. This antique nursery catalog dating from autumn 1889 is filled with illustrations, prices, horticultural and cultivation information.

The catalog offers a wide range of spring flowering garden bulbs, winter blooming house plants, as well as a sections on hardy perennials, ornamental shrubs, and fruits and nuts.

What a great gift for a gardener or seed catalog collector!

The catalog is in good condition showing typical age-related wear. There is paper loss on the cover including areas of bottom right-hand corner of the front cover, on the back at along the bottom edge, at the top left back corner, and a few other small spots. The cover has small tears around the edges. There is a faint fold along the center of the catalog indicating that is was most likely folded in half. There are several additional creases on the back cover. Interior pages are clean and in good condition.

Originally intended as an ashtray, this vintage white open hands ceramic piece can be used in so many ways -- as a ring dish, trinket tray, or odds & ends holder.

Vintage New King James Version Holy Bible published by Thomas Nelson, this 1984 edition is bound in black bonded leather and has a snap flap closure.

Known as Nelson's "Smallest Bible Edition," the pocket-size volume has gold gilt edges and lettering as well as an attached black ribbon bookmark.

The bible is in very good vintage condition showing minor wear. There are several small spots of rubbing on the bonded leather and a patina of age on the gold metal clasp. Pages are clean. Binding is tight.

Cameo double deck of Kem playing cards in a black bakelite case has a Grecian motif with a flute playing Pan and maiden. One deck has the Cameo design in green and the other deck has the design in brown.

Each deck has 52 cards. There are no jokers. There is one extra card that gives instruction on how to order replacement cards for the deck. Replacement card has a 1947 copyright mark. The ace of spades in each deck has a 1935 copyright mark.

Cards are in very good condition. They have been played and show light wear with but are crisp. The black bakelite box is also in very good condition and is marked on the bottom " "Kem Plastic Playing Cards Inc. New York Made in U.S.A."

Adorable and tiny vintage pin cushion, this carved and embroidered sewing accessory has two holes through which to draw a cord so that the pincushion could be tied around your wrist or neck for safe keeping while sewing. The pin cushion is so small, it could also be used in a dollhouse.

This charming miniature pin cushion appears to be carved out of some type of nut and is covered with fabric that has been embroidered with a single tiny flower.

The pin cushion is in very good vintage condition with a few tiny chips at the edge of the rim carving.

David Anderson Norway sterling silver brooch has a colorful enamel Viking ship sailing in a green sea with arrows in the blue sky.

The Rite of Exorcism vinyl lp has amazing cover art & is the perfect sound track for a spooky halloween party. Published by Crunch Records in 1974, the recording was conceived and researched by Rev. Patrick J. Berkery with an original script by Morty Jay.
