Two vintage Catholic scapulars made from traditional brown wool have white paper panels with art reproductions of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Simon Stock sewn on the reverse side. One scapular has a white ribbon with plastic protective cases and one scapular has a brown ribbon.

The scapular were stored in a drawer for many years and have never been worn.

Brown wool felt scapulars have a long history in the Catholic Church. Scapulare propter opera, were originally work clothes worn by monks, which developed into the Benedictine habit, then burial garments for privileged members of Third Orders such as confraternities, and over time into small brown wool sacramental scapulars worn in modern times.

Political propaganda has been around as long as their have been governments. This fist full of vintage Chinese Communist propaganda by Chairman Mao Zedong's (Mao Tse Tung in Wade-Giles romanization) can be read for insight into the Communist leader's ideas on government or grouped with other political pamphlets for a quirky display.

Published in Beijing in the 1960s by the Foreign Languages Press for the foreign English-speaking market, the vintage propaganda collection include two red vinyl-cover booklets, a small pamphlet, and a larger paperback-size book. The vintage book bundle is in good condition.

Nabisco, formally National Biscuit Company, has one of the most recognizable logos. Its first incarnation dates back to 1898. In the 1950s, the logo got a cleaner, more modern look in keeping with the atomic age. To me, it sort of looks like a mid-century television antenna.

Interesting old Israel travel guide by Zev Vilnay has over 650 illustration, a detailed history about the area, information about Israeli history and current country information, travel guidance, as well as details about the flora and fauna of the region.

The vintage travel book provides an interesting window on Israel in the late 1960s. The title page states that this is the 9th edition of the this popular Israeli travel guide which was first published in 1955. The copyright page states that it is the 11th edition published in 1968 with a 1967 copyright date. Volume states the book includes a general map of Israel, but no map is present.

The book is in good condition for a used travel guide from the 1960s. The guide was not printed on the best-quality paper and the pages are quite tanned with age. There is a small notation in pencil on the front dust jacket. Dust jacket shows wear around the edges including tears and light soiling. The dust jacket has done its job and has keep the red cloth cover with gold lettering in good condition. Former owner's name & address label (Michelle F. Pflumm) on the front left-hand side endpaper. Front endpapers have a decorative map of the world. The vintage travel guide has an attached ribbon bookmark which is fraying at the end.

Made by Cram's for the Buffalo Evening News, this scarce vintage world globe would make a cool desk decor accent in your home or office.

The presence of Manchukuo (founded 1932) and Persia (changed to Iran in 1935) dates the globe to the early 1930s. Korea shown as Chosen. Italian Somaliland is present (dissolved 1936), as is Siam, French West Africa, Union of South Africa, Ashanti, Belgian Congo, Indo-China, Palestine, Anglo-Eygpt Sudan, and Netherlands India, an odd designation for the Dutch East Indies.

The small globe has a 7 inch diameter, a scarce size. The vintage globe is mounted on a metal base with a decorative bent steel half meridian. The globe's base advertises the Buffalo Evening News as "Western New York's Greatest Newspaper," and has information on the earth and its place in our solar system. The globe is constructed of paper map gores over pasteboard.

This is an old globe and is was used in its time. There is no time dial at the top (most likely there was one at one time). The paper gores are dust soiled. The globe has dings and scuffs and some paper loss most notably around Antarctica.

Filled with beautiful color maps of the world, this vintage atlas also has an astronomical geography chart, as well as world climate, natural vegetation, & political graphics as well as Mercator, Mollweides Homographic, & Lamberts Equivalent Azimuthal projections.

Published in 1941, the vintage world atlas captures the world in the throes of World War II with notations on map plates 38 & 39 (Central Europe) indicating the German occupation of Poland (September 1939), areas controlled by Russia and areas surrendered by Rumania (September 1940).

This is a vintage school atlas from 1941 showing age appropriate wear. The blue cloth binding is lightly soiled, with scratches and a crease line near the lower right-hand corner. There is an ink notation in top margin on page 45 (Balkan States). Otherwise, the pages are clean. The maps and charts are in very good condition.
