An incredible example of crewel embroidery, this vintage textile needlework piece can be transformed into a wall hanging or pillow cover.

Worked on a white linen background with wool thread in a vibrant 1970s flower design, the crewel embroidery is complete and in very good condition. The linen fabric, measuring 35 inches x 17 inches, has been folded in half and has a crease line. There are a few spots that should come out with washing. Note the word "top" below the crease line above the crewel work. Black basting stitches outline the pillow cover back dimension. There is a dry cleaners tag pinned to one corner.

Ready for finishing, you can make a pillow cover, frame it for a wall hanging, or use it in another craft project.

This mid-century vintage Replogle globe is mounted on a rare Welch Scientific base designed by William A. Hall and referred to as the Hall Tellurian Globe having many functions similar to an orrery. The metal base has an adjustable blue dial with constellations, zodiac signs, seasons, the months and days of the year.

The mount houses a 12 inch Replogle Reference Globe designed and edited by the cartographer Gustav Brueckmann. The globe dates to the early 1950s and the beginning of the Cold War Era. Vietnam is divided by north and south. East Germany is marked "Soviet Zone."

The globe is in good condition showing typical dust soiling, spots, and a few very small areas of paper loss. The base dial is in beautiful condition. However the mount is not complete. It has its full meridian indicating sun rise and sun set lines but is missing its steel ferules indicated night and day.

These vintage drink & snack trays have beautiful hand painted ocean scenes with seashores, starfish, conch, and fishes on a black matte background. The small trays would make an interesting wall decor accent in a beach house or coastal cottage.

The vintage trays date from the 1950s and show varying degrees of wear. All have some paint loss & dings mostly around the edges. The hand painted designs are in good condition.

Nonlinear Oscillations in Physical Systems by Chihiro Hayashi is a scarce title in the McGraw-Hill Electrical an Electronic Engineering Series. Published in 1964, the vintage physics book is dense with technical language, formulas, and drawings. The vintage science book would make a fabulous gift for the geek in your life. Beautifully illustrated with wood engravings by Boyd Hanna, The Story of the Nativity published by The Peter Pauper Press would make a lovely religious gift at Christmas. The story text taken from the Douay version of the Holy Bible is printed in red on the opposite page of each wood block print.

This lovely little Christmas art book has a decorative cover and is in good condition for its age. There is a small tear at the top of the front cover near the spine. There is discoloration on the spine. Pages are clear. Binding is tight.

Heart-shaped pressed cardboard pin with a kissing couple dressed in traditional German Bavarian costume, this tinnie was most likely given away at a local event or festival somewhere in Germany sometime prior to World War II.

I wasn't sure what this was when I found it at an estate sale, but I thought the kissing couple was so charming. After much research, I found information on a German solidarity propaganda pin from 1935 with a similar cardboard composition. The article referred to the pin as a "tinnie." Tinnies, which were usually made of metal, were popular in pre-World War II Germany and frequently distributed at public events, festival, and political rallies.

The cardboard has a ding in it on the right side by the gentleman's ankle, but over all, the tinnie is in remarkably good condition. The silky floral-patterned ribbon which connects to an old-fashioned safety pin, is bright and vibrant. There is also a short length of tartan ribbon tied in a bow at the base of the cardboard heart.

Cardboard Heart measures 3 1/8"
5 1/2" Total length including the ribbons.

Comes in a box ready for giving.

Nayco Butter and Cookie Print with its original instruction label is constructed entirely from wood. The wooden stamp can be used to print designs on butter or cookies. The tag instructs you on how to use the vintage design stamp.

The small wood butter mold has a wheat design, the perfect detail for your Thanksgiving feast fall celebration, or fancy dinner party.

Carte de visite were invented in Paris by André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri in 1854. He also developed a method of producing eight separate negatives on one plate making it easier to produce multiple cards of an identical image. In the mid to late 1800s, carte de visite became all the rage and were traded among friends and relatives.

Cards are in good condition for their age showing typical wear including scratches, edge wear, rubbing, fading, and spotting. Each card has the number "3226" written on the back in pencil and as well as the gold gilt stamp of Samson & Co Berlin.

Cards measure approximate 4 1/8" x 2 1/2".

Considered so scandalous at the time of its 1928 publication, Bad Girl, by Vina Delmar, was banned in Boston. The notoriety catapulted the racy novel up the best seller list, making it the fifth bestselling book of the year.

Adapted to the stage and screen, Bad Girl, launched Delmar's Hollywood screenwriting career.

The book was printed on very inexpensive pulp-novel quality paper and hence is very tanned with aged. The paper remains supple and is not brittle. The book's dust jacket is in good condition showing typical wear around the edges and a few small tears. The inside dust jacket flap states that "This book is complete and unabridged! From the first page to last it is exactly how the author wrote it and originally published at a higher price. The low price is made possible by printing from the original plates and by acceptance of a reduced royalty."

I found a bookmark inside the novel from Broadway Books Shops "in the heart of Times Square" New York City, and will send the marker along with the book.

Captured in sepia tones, this class of boys stare confidently into the camera with the hint of smiles on their young faces. Taken in Berlin, Germany very early in the 1900s, this photograph is part of a collection from one family's estate spanning from the 1800s into the early part of the 20th century.

Some of the boys are dressed in the classic sailor suit uniform of the time period. Some are wearing lace-up boots. One boy has a watch fob and chain hanging prominently from his coat jacket.

The photograph is in good condition with small chips at the top left corner and bottom right corner. The photo is mounted on heavy card stock which shows wear around the edges and some discoloration from age.

Do you know what this is? It's a Hazel Atlas glass Depression era 16 oz 2 cup beater jar circa 1920s. At one time it was most likely paired with an A & J egg beater that got lost along the way. Hazel Atlas patented the jar design in 1923.

You don't need the beater to make this bowl a functional tool in your kitchen. Use it to measure flour when you bake, to mix scrambled eggs, or store berries in the refrigerator. The bowl has graduated measures for cups, pints, and ounces. It's stamped on the bottom with the Hazel Atlas mark and shows surprisingly minor wear for an approximately 85-year-old bowl. There are a few small nicks around the rim. Nothing major, nothing sharp.

Vintage art poster from the Cold War era, this striking image by I. Spreekmeester (aka Isidore Leonard Spreekmeester) was a fifth place winner in the Intra-European Cooperation for a Better Standard of Living 1950 poster contest sponsored by the European Recovery Program (ERP), more popularly known as the Marshall Plan.

Spreekmeester (1914 - 2000) was a well known Dutch magazine illustrator, the author of several children's books, and a courtroom artist for the NOS broadcasting company.

The European Recovery Plan (ERP) or Marshall Plan (1948 - 1951), conceived by George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff during WW II & Truman's Secretary of State, sought to politically stabilize & rebuild the economies of war-torn European countries while hindering the spread of Communism.

A panel of graphic artists from countries benefiting from the Marshall Plan, selected 25 winning posters from over 10,000 entries. The posters are graphically stunning pieces of political propaganda and historically interesting bits of ephemera from the early Cold War era.

The poster is an original poster, not a reproduction. The poster is in excellent vintage condition with just some minor wear at around the edges.

The poster has been stored flat.

Vintage Nova Scotia Tartan platter, this bone china serving piece was made in England by Royal Albert. The pink and blue Royal Albert hallmark dates the plate to circa 1962 to the 1970s.

The Nova Scotia Tartan motif is rendered in wonderful blue, green, and gold plaid ribbons with a large bow and lion crest. The decorative platter has a delicate gold trim.

The Nova Scotia Tartan was the first provincial tartan in Canada.

The decorative serving platter is in good condition. The dish has a few manufacturing imperfections that appear to be stray marks of paint under the glaze. See photographs two & three.

Vintage copy of Wilson Tucker's classic sci fi novel, The Long Loud Silence, a tale of post atomic apocalypse America, has an amazing cover illustration by Richard M. Powers.

The cover graphic is vibrant and the page edges are a vivid turquoise blue -- aperfect display copy for your sci-fi or atomic age inspired decor.

The vintage science fiction book is in very good condition appears to have never been read. The spine is has a crinkle in it (see photograph 3) but the spine is tight and not cracked as is often the case with old pulp fiction books. There is some very light shelf wear at the top and base of the spine. Pages are clean and very slightly tanned -- a marvel as cheap pulp paper typically does not age well.

Vintage silk scarf with mischievous budgie parakeets can be framed and transformed into an amazing wall hanging. The vintage scarf artfully captures these playful birds in vibrant detail.

The scarf has flaws but I just could not pass it up when I came across it at an estate sale. There are quite a few brown storage spots on the silk. I have not attempted to clean the fabric. There is no fabric content label. The fabric feels and drapes like silk.

Vintage silk thread on wooden spools makes a lovely decor accent in a craft or sewing room, design studio, or workshop. This beautiful array of vintage threads in neutral tones includes two very rare spools from Warehouse Point Silk Company. The lot also include three wooden spools of Belding Corticelli Richardson B&A thread marked "Sew With Silk," and one spool of Clark's Mercerized Sewing cotton thread.

Vintage mosaic tile plates, a popular decor accent in the 1950s & 1960s, look just as good today as they did back then. This fine example of a tile mosaic plate has a lovely combination of light and dark brown hearts, pinks and gold set into a orangey gold aluminum dish.

Not for use with food, the decorative plate can be used as wall decor or an accent on a coffee table. Group a handful together for a dramatic retro decor effect.

Written by Harry Castlemon (pen name of Charles Austin Fosdick), a prolific 19th-century author of adventure books for boys, Frank Among the Rancheros is part of The Rocky Mountain Series of novels published by Porter & Coates.

This very early edition, possibly a first edition, has a decorative cover and an illustration of Frank, the main character.

The book is a genuine antique book from the 19th century, not a modern reprint. As such, expect wear and aging appropriate for a book that is almost 150 years old. The pages are tanned with age, but supple and not crumbling. Some of the pages have soiling. The cover has some spots and wear along the edges and at top and bottom of the spine. Binding is tight.
