Made in West Germany, these vintage magnetic toys are the ultimate in potty humor. Each miniature plastic little boy has a magnetized bottom and a magnetized pot. The lone original box bears the instruction, in English, German, & French, "Make the boy sit on the Pot."

Instructions:
"This is how it works. It will be found that the figure will, or will not, sit on the pot depending on which way up it is standing. A loose, false bottom is magnetically attached, and this bottom will remain in position at either the top or bottom end of the pot.

When your friend has seen the boy sitting on the post, pass the figure to him. While he is exam the figure quickly change the false bottom to the other end of the pot. When you have done this pass your friend the pot also and he will of course find that the boy refuses to sit in spite of all his efforts."

These are vintage magic trick toys and are being sold as one lot, and for display not for play.
There is a crumbling instruction sheet in German as well as one in English which is in good condition. All the figures show varying degrees of wear including paint loss and discoloration. A few of the pots are have small chips. The lot comes with only two false bottoms.

This small anti-Communist pamphlet published by the Catholic Information Society introduced Catholics to Aloysius Stepinac, the Archbishop of Zagreb, defender of the Jews during World War II, and to the complex politics of Yugoslavia. The pamphlet is essentially a plea to Americans to urge the United States government to take formal action against Stephinac's imprisonment by Josep Tito's regime.

This fine American edition of the Peeps at Many Lands England and Wales has its original dust jacket illustrated with a girl and boy riding a magic carpet through the sky. The book contains sixteen beautiful color illustrations of English and Welsh landscapes.

The dust jacket is worn with chips, tears, and paper loss at the corners and at the top and base of the spine, as well as soiling. But, the dust jacket has served to beautifully preserve the decorative red cloth cover and paste-down illustration of an English cottage and garden. Pages show light browning from age but are supple. Pages are clean. Binding is tight.

The antique book is in very good condition for its age. The cover is bright showing some light soiling and wear. There is some dust soiling on the page edges. Burke's Speeches at Bristol Previous to the Election and Declining the Poll are considered masterworks of oratory.

This book was much loved and reviewed by its former owner who wrote his name and a date in ink on the front end paper -- Joseph W. Howe A.B. 1931. The book is heavily annotated throughout and there are old paper clips holding pages 55 through 78 & pages 85 through 92 together.

The most curious personal touch found on this vintage book, is the notation inked on the page edges " Open Only On Dec. 25 Santa Claws."

Exquisite Japanese obi sash, this smaller version of a formal maru obi has an elaborate peony and butterfly design in shades of orange, a traditional color for a child's obi sash, with accents of gold and blue.

Woven from silk, the obi belt is heavy weight and rather stiff. This beautiful vintage textile would make an amazing wall hanging. This early 20th century child's kimono obi belt could also be used as a table runner.

This small still globe bank overlaid with Denoyer Geppert paper gores is a super scarce find. The antique world globe would make an unusual and rare addition to your collection.

Made by the Miller Bank Service, the advertising globe has an enameled plaque at the North Pole stating "Gibraltar Savings & Building Association." The vintage globe is marked in the Indian Ocean:

The Denoyer Geppert globe gores show brown spotting and discoloration typical of paper that has been pasted over metal. The browning obscures some of the globe's features. With a magnifying loupe and a close look you can identify the Japanese Empire, Constantinople in Turkey, Leningrad (changed from Saint Petersburg in 1924), and much more.

There are some spots of paper loss most notably on the Southern Hemisphere just below the Equator in the Pacific Ocean.

The miniature hollow metal orb easily comes off its metal spindle which is mounted on a what appears to be a heavily vanished wooden base.

There are a few coins rattling around inside the globe bank. To maintain the integrity of this antique globe bank in its found condition, I have not tried to separate the orb to retrieve the coins.

Vintage set of eight (8) children's activity books by Saalfield Publishing have amazing lithograph covers suitable for framing. They would make lively & colorful nursery decor or decorations in a child's room.

The activity books are in good condition. The booklets includes coloring books, connect the dots, puzzles, mazes, games, and other typical activities. Each booklet has a colorful decorative front and back cover, a stapled binding, and approximately 8 double-side pages of activities. The covers are in very good to excellent vintage condition. The interior pages are beginning to yellow with age. A few booklets have some pages filled in. I noticed a few tears on some pages in a few of the booklets that appear to be from the manufacturing process.

Insects, a perennially favorite reading subject for children, are rendered in beautiful lithographs in this vintage children's book. The charming book provides a colorful introduction to entomology.

A Child's Book of Insects by Sy Barlowe published in 1952 by Maxton Publishing is filled with information along with detailed bug art in color and in black & white. The front cover binding is quite decorative with a dandelion and various bugs including a dragonfly, butterfly, & bees. I could envision the volume displayed cover out on a shelf in a nursery or child's room.

The book once belonged to the Cedar Grove, NJ School system and has a stamp on the inside front endpaper "Aug 1960 Property of Board of Education of Cedar Grove." Other than the stamp, it is free of marks. It does has a ripped page (see photography 4). Several other pages have small tears near the bottom that do not interfere with the insect pictures. The spine shows some wear most notably at the bottom and at the edges.

Beautiful artist-signed antique Limoges plate has Bawo Dotter Elite Works stamps dating its creation between 1900 - 1914. Made in France, the gold-rimmed serving plate can be used as a cake plate or displayed in a breakfront.

The plate has hand-painted red tulips outlined in gold.

This is an 100-plus year-old plate. It is in very good condition for its age. There is some wear on the gold around the rim. If you run your finger around the plate's footing - not the gold rim - you might detect two tiny flea bites.

Scarce vintage world globe Thorne's Toffee tin has a great patina and shows the world's political boundaries in good detail as they were before World War II.

The small tin globe can be released from its meridian, and opens to reveal a great place to stash candy, money, or any thing else you'd like to conceal.

Although not marked "Chad Valley," the globe looks identical to those produced by Chad Valley during the same time period. The globe is marked "Made in England" at the base of the stand. The bottom is lithographed with "Thornes Leeds, England The World's Premier Toffee."

This globe dates from the early 1930s and shows signs of age and use with dings, marks, and soiling. There are traces of tape residue on the black base. The globe has some light rusting on the surface as well as rust inside the hollow cavity. There is a large dent between China, Korea, & Japan. The base is slightly off kilter.

Stands approximately 9 inches tall.
Globe has approximately a 4 1/2 inch diameter.

Unique handmade wood world globe was made long ago by a woodworking enthusiast in his basement workshop. The continents were carefully carved into the wooden orb's surface along with the outlines of various countries.

The unusual wooden globe fits into a wood base. The salvage piece looks as though it might have been meant to be a staircase banister finial. No matter what its original purpose, the vintage wood globe would look great as an office accent, library decor, or paperweight.

The wood globe and base show wear including chipped veneer and a few red ink-like spots on the base and above South America.

The 4" diameter globe stands approximately 7 1/2" tall on its wood base.

Beautiful gutta percha pencil box has a decorative hand-marbled paper overlay on the lid. Dating from the Victorian era, the antique box is the perfect desk organizer for stashing pens and pencils.

Gutta percha is a type of tree that produces a natural thermoplastic-like sap. Used for centuries by the islanders of the Malaysian archipelago, gutta percha became a popular manufacturing substance in the mid to late 19th century used in such diverse items as insulating material in undersea telegraph cables, Victorian mourning jewelry, and furniture.

The antique box is in very good condition for its age showing normal wear and tear including staining inside the box and a very small nick on the back lid by the hinge. Pens not included.

The pen box has three compartments and measures approximately 7 3/4 inches long by 2 1/4 inched wide by 1 1/8 inches deep.

The book is vintage from the 1940s but was never used and is in excellent condition. The gift box shows shelf wear mostly at the corners.
