Ethics for the Unbelievers presents a system of morality built on principles of rationality and science not on religious beliefs.
The author, Amber Blanco White, was a notable figure in her time. Born in New Zealand, and educated at Cambridge, she was a founding member of the University Fabian Society, a British Socialist organization, a lecturer in moral Science at Morley College, and a lover of H.G. Wells.
The vintage book is in good condition showing typical wear and tanning of the paper from age. The dust jacket is in tatters as shown in photograph one. The book has an interesting ex libris bookplate from the library of Edward W. Berman that has a bust caricature, presumably of Berman, on a pedestal (see photograph three). The ex libris bookplate is signed by E. Schwartz and dated "1945" in blue ink.

This metal Mars Staedtler pencil box was modified long ago by its owner who carefully pasted a Speedball Triple Reservoir Pen label on the lid as well as Speedball nib charts on the inside.
The vintage pencil box contains three vintage calligraphy dip pens along with a selection of pen nibs including Speedballs, Hunt, & Spencerian Gilt-Points made in England. There is also a Clix razor blade, a small plastic novelty trinket in the form of half a cup marked "For My 'Half-Ass' Friend," and an "Out to Lunch" sign.
This curious collection of vintage calligraphy art supplies and assorted odds and ends makes an interesting prop or decor accent for a workshop or studio.

The white porcelain bowls are small and have a delicate look. They were used in a science lab and show wear including some spots of discoloration. One bowl in the set is a small strainer with a perforated bottom. This bowl has a small chip on the bottom.
Five of the small porcelain lab crucibles are marked "Coors U.S.A." One small white bowl, the largest of the group is marked on the bottom with Japanese characters.
The tallest bowl is 1 5/8" tall.

Hang a piece of history on your wall. This dramatic Cold War era propaganda poster was a winner in the Marshall Plan European Recovery Program's 1950 poster contest promoting European unity and cooperation.
Designed by Swedish artist Erik Oelmebo, the art poster shows all the European countries involved with the Marshall Plan pulling together to accomplish "Samarbette for Fred, Frihet, Hogre Levnadsstandard" -- Co-operation for Peace, Freedom, and a Higher Standard of Living.
This poster is an original lithograph from 1950 and is in remarkable condition for its age. It was part of the estate of a graphic artist who collected all 25 winning posters in the Marshall Plan poster contest. The posters were all stored flat in a drawer in a climate-controled studio. The poster shows some wear around the edges with very small tears, but no paper loss. The colors are vibrant.
This poster has been stored flat not rolled.

Written for the general reader, Fred Hoyle's Frontiers of Astronomy presents an engaging picture of what was known about our Universe circa 1955, covering the Earth-Moon system, the origin of the planets, the Sun, composition of the stars, evolution of stars and galaxies, and the question of the origin of our Universe.
Hoyle, who coined the phrase "Big Bang Theory," was also a detractor of that theory. Known for his controversial position on many of the accepted scientific issues of his time, he was a promoter of the panspermia hypothesis as the origin of life on Earth.
The vintage astronomy book contains 45 pages of photographs including pictures of outer space provided by the Mt. Wilson and Palomar Observatories. The book also has over 60 line drawings.
The book is in good condition for its age. The original dust jacket show typical wear around the edges with some small tears, creases, and soiling. Pages are clean. Binding is tight. The top pages edges are a bit soiled from dust.

Located for many years on Spring Street in the heart of what would become New York City's trendy Soho district, an old and faded painted J.C. Yarn sign was once still visible on the side of the building. I wonder if it is still there?
Painted white, the vintage advertising ruler has bold red and blue lettering and the image of an old 1930s rotary telephone. The ruler includes J.C. Yarn Co's two New York City addresses along with a CAnal exchange telephone number.
The vintage ruler is in good condition showing typical wear to the paint and some light soiling.

Rare Bird!
This Lenci duck figurine is truly a rare find. Lenci, founded in 1919 by Elena (Helen) Konig and Enrico Scavini, and centered in Torino, Italy, began as a manufacturer of fanciful felt dolls. In 1928, the factory began producing high-quality porcelain ceramic figurines. After surviving through WW II (and a direct bomb hit on the factory!), Lenci closed its doors in 1964.
This small yellow duckling figurine is in very good vintage condition. The bottom of the piece has some rough spots and a flea bite around the firing hole. The piece is hand-signed "Lenci Italy" along with a circular symbol on the bottom. The bird also has a round paper Lenci seal.

The antique art prints are in a lovely hardcover folio with a decorative cover. Use the artwork as wall decorations in baby's nursery or child's reading area.
The striking color illustrations are vibrant. The prints are in good condition with the exception of Cinderella which is torn in half but still attached to its matting board. There is a tear at the top of the little red riding hood print. There is a small chip at the bottom of the Snow White print. The matting boards are not in good condition. They are torn and taped. A previous owner wrote the English translation of each image in pencil at the top and on the back of each matting card. The brown cloth-bound hardcover folio shows wear including rubbing, fraying, & soiling.
Prints measure approximately 5 3/8" x 4" on 8 1/4" x 6 1/2" matting cards.

These Japanese vintage printing block panels would lend a unique decor accent to a living room, bedroom, hallway, or any other place you'd like to have an interesting focal point. Hand-carved on wooden panels, the vintage printer's block have beautiful floral designs.
One panel is thicker than the other and has carved patterns on both sides. Each wooden panel has three notches at the top and bottom.
These are very old wood printing the blocks. The wooden printing blocks have residue of ink and other signs of wear and the passing of time including scratches, chipping of the wood around the edges as well as a few chips from the designs, and some splitting of the wood at the tops and bottoms that does not effect the integrity of the pieces.

This antique miniature tin globe pencil sharpener is held up by Atlas, the mythological Titan god of endurance and astronomy. The vintage world globe shows the world as it was early in the 20th century before World War I.
Made in Germany circa 1910, the miniature metal globe shows the Congo States, Chinese Empire, Turkish Empire, St. Pedersburg, and the British Dominion (now the western Canadian provinces).
This rare tin globe has lots of character for its small size, and is in good condition for its age, showing minimal paint loss, a few scratches, and dings. The pencil sharpener blade is dull and doesn't work well.
Marked "Germany" on the bottom and "Made in Germany" on the metal globe between Atlas's head and shoulder.

Straight from the estate of a retired mathematics professor, this bundle of vintage blue examination booklets are a nostalgic old school relic.
The vintage blue exam books have a lamp on the cover, the classic symbol of wisdom, and prompts with ruled lines for Name, Subject, Instructor, etc.
The small test booklets have stapled bindings and 16 pages (8 sheets) of wide blue ruled lines.

Three volumes from Britain in Pictures book series have decorative covers, color art plates, and numerous black and white illustrations. The attractive book set would make a great gift for an Anglophile, or unique decor accent in an English themed interior design scheme.
Launched in 1941 by Collins (now HarperCollins) when Europe was in the throes of World War II and the battle against the Germans was looking pretty grim, the Britain in Pictures series was a morale booster and reminder of what England was fighting for. Contributors to the series included George Orwell, Graham Greene, and Edith Sitwell. The series proved so popular that volumes continued to be published into 1949, with many volumes going into multiple printings. Book topics included such diverse subjects as boxing, birds, engineering, English farming, and British scientists.
The books are in overall good condition. The dust jackets are torn and worn around the edges with chipping on the spines, but they served their purpose and protected the decorative hardcover bindings. Pages are lightly tanned with age. The English Bible has a previous owner's name (Roland Edwards) and the date "F 16/2/45" written in blue ink on the front right-handside endpaper, "F 16/2/45" written in red on the front dust jacket flap, and some notations in red pencil.
