Striking image of a factory whistle sounds the cause of the post World War II Marshall Plan. A Dutch entry in the Intra-European Cooperation for a Better Standard of Living 1950 poster contest, this is an original lithograph by artist Wladimir Flem.

The European Recovery Program (ERP) or Marshall Plan (1948 - 1951), conceived by George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff during WW II & Truman's Secretary of State, sought to politically stabilize & rebuild the economies of war-torn European countries while hindering the spread of Communism.

A panel graphic artists, one from each of the countries benefiting from the Marshall Plan, selected 25 winning posters from over 10,000 entries. The posters are graphically stunning pieces of political propaganda and historically interesting bits of ephemera from the early Cold War era.

Awesome 1940s movie diary with publicity photos of all the major stars of the era, this booklet documents the height of hollywood glamour.

Published by Kofoed in 1945 and distributed by Conel Books, this treasure trove of hollywood movie star pictures includes brief biographies of the actors and actresses. Opposite each photograph is a page for fans to log in movies they're seen, where, when, stars, supporting casts, and comments.

For some reason, the publisher chose to put a not very glamorous photograph of Van Johnson on the cover.

She's bringing booty back.....

A beautiful specimen of Art Nouveau bronze work, this pin tray is also a fine example of a "naughty," a decorative dish with an image of a woman that when turned over reveals her naked derriere. Finely wrought, this footed bronze dish has great detail showing an array of flora and a lovely long haired lady peering through the leaves. She appears to be sticking out her tongue.

This rare & sassy Art Nouveau pin tray would make an amazing gift for the collector.

Tray measures approximately 6 1/2" x 5 1/2" and stands 1 1/4" tall and is in very good vintage condition. There are a few spots of age-related patina in the leaves, on one of her arms, on the back, and tray feet. The tray is very heavy for its size weighing 2 lbs.

Charming Art Deco era flapper girl bathing beauty figurine with a pensive gaze reclines on her lusterware ceramic shell. Bought long ago as a souvenir of time spent at Brighton in the 1920s, the trinket tray is bears the shield and motto (In Deo Fidamus) of the seaside resort town.

This lovely little trinket tray figurine is in very good vintage condition. It has no chips and no cracks.

The figurine has a red hallmark on the bottom that is partially worn away and difficult to read.

She would make a great beach house hostess gift.

Beautiful signed watercolor print of a street in St. Augustine, Florida's historic district, this lovely print in tones of orange was framed by the esteemed Elsner's Pictures & Framing of Jacksonville. Dating from the 1930s, the print is signed by artist Kenneth Friedman, author of the popular illustrated St. Petersburg Times "Florida Highlights" column, and "Ken Friedman's Cartoon Guide of Florida (1938).

The framed artwork measures 12 3/4" x 9 3/4" and is ready to hang on your wall.

The print has been protected in its frame and is in excellent condition. The gold gilt frame shows minor wear mostly around the edges. The top right-hand corner of the frame shows the most wear. The frame's backing paper is aged and is tearing around the edges. The frame has a secure wire for hanging and the Elsner's gold seal on the back.

In the days before computer generated charts, Dalton's Tables of Houses Spherical Basis of Astrology was (and for some serious astrologers, still is) the definitive reference book for charting horoscopes.

Published in 1975 by Macoy Publishing and Masonic Supplies, Co, Inc., Richmond, Virginia. The book is in very good condition with no underlining or highlighting. Former owner's name written in ink on the back endpaper.

But wait, there's more -- the former owner's astrological reading drawn up in 1978 by the legendary (in astrology circles) Neil Michelsen is included with the book. Michelsen, a former IBM employee, founded Astro Computing Service creating the first computer-generated ephemeris in 1976.

Large and impressive, this 2-volume unabridged Webster's Dictionary set weighs nearly 10 lbs, has decorative tooled faux leather covers, and is filled with beautiful illustrations.

The vintage book set can be used as library decor, as a photo prop, as wedding decor, a table centerpiece, or as intended a reference tool. The large illustrated dictionary pages could be repurposed in art work and craft projects.

Published in 1936, the vintage dictionaries show obvious signs of wear and the passage of time. They were used in their time as reference books. The spines of the text blocks on these heavy books are beginning to weaken. The covers shows wear around the edges and at the top and base of the spines as well as soiling. The pages are supple but do show tanning from age and some soiling. I've noted blue inks stains on a few pages and some creased pages.

In addition to word definitions, the dictionary set includes a supplement with sections on the Presidents of the United States, a list of amended spellings, faulty diction, "one thousand questions that may be answered with the aid of this dictionary," commercial and financial terms, the constitution of the United States, a brief chronological history of the United States, a gazetteer, and color maps of the world.

This metal cigarette case is one smokin' vintage tobacciana collectible. The brass metal cover has an engraved map of the continental United States. The map indicates major cities across America. Most states also have a symbolic icon such as cattle in Texas, cactus in Arizona, oranges in Florida, and corn in Illinois. The hinged case is marked "Wadsworth Made in U.S.A."

You don't have to use this cool case for cigarettes. It would make a unique wallet or card case.

The cigarette case is in good vintage condition. It comes with its original felt pouch. The inside is very clean. The hinge works and is secure. Press the front button and the case pops open.

Vintage porcelain goose & gander pair would make a lovely wedding, anniversary, or housewarming gift for a loving couple.

The pre-World War II ceramic wild geese figures have nice detailing and are marked "Germany" on the bottom in green. One of the figurines is also impressed with the number "7872."

The geese are made from fine porcelain and are quite old -- circa 1920s - 1930s. The figurines are in good vintage condition. One of the figurines has a production flaw -- small patch of rough porcelain -- near the tail (see photograph two, goose on the right).

Rare Commonwealth Plastic Corp. world globe bank has a 4 1/2 inch diameter and brightly colored oceans and continents.

Made in Leominister, Massachusetts, this small vintage globe is made of plastic. It has a weighted base (sounds like the base is filled with sand) and a coin slot in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean.

This simplified world globe shows country designations (including several antiqued terms) but no cities.

The globe can be dated to the early 1950s.

Snowy pinecone clip-on earrings with original decorative packaging card marked "Merry Chirstmas" with bell motif and lady with a parasol, the curiosity of the card is almost as intriguing as the intricate detail on the pine boughs and cones.

The pine boughs are obviously plastic, although it is very difficult to discern if they are molded or carved. I don't believe these are celluloid. They could be Bubbleite. They are very light weight.

The pinecones are so realistic--I've examined them under a loop, that I ponder the possibility that they are real pinecones that have been dipped in a brownish gold paint. Please note that there is a little bit of green on the pinecones. There are sparkles embedded on the white plastic boughs and the pinecones.

Never worn, these earrings are in very good vintage condition. The gold-tone clip-back is marked "Japan." The style dates these earring to the 1950s.

Earrings come in a gift box ready for giving.

Antique book filled with outlandish ideas about reading facial features to discern character traits, Physiognomy by Leila Lomax is a curious read. Between the decorative green covers, Lomax puts forth unscientific information that claims will teach the reader, "How to read character in the face and to determine the capacity for love, business, or crime."

Physiognomy, also referred to as anthroposcopy, is an old idea in the history of human thought dating back at least to ancient Greece. The concept of physiognomy experienced a resurgence in interest and scholarly attention in the late 18th century and 19th century. The pseudoscience of physiognomy is related to phrenology and palmistry.

This is a rare book and would make a great gift for the collector of early psychology, quack medicine, or pseudoscience items. The antique book published in 1906 has a decorative binding and title page. The book is in very good condition showing some rubbing and wear on the cover and spine. Endpapers and pages, although browned with age, are clean. Binding is tight.

The volume includes an advertising list of titles & descriptions of other books published by Penn Publishing including Magic, Graphology, Astrology, Practical Palmistry, and Slips of Speech.

The small volume measures approximately 6" x 4 1/2".
