Chaim Gross (1902-1991) was a modern American sculptor and painter working in New York City from 1921 until his death in 1991. He was born in 1902 to a Jewish family in Austrian Galicia, in the village of Wolowa in the Carpathian Mountains. In 1911, his family moved to Kolomyia, Ukraine. He is known for his sculpture, moving wood carved figures, Judaic religious imagery, and sculptures, drawings, and watercolors of circus acrobats, children, and fantasy images.
