48.00 USD

Two vintage laboratory glass bottles would look great on display by themselves or as part of larger grouping of chemistry glass.

The larger bottle is bottom marked "Pyrex Reg US Pat. Off. Made in USA." Its glass stopper is marked "Pyrex T - 24." This bottle is approximately 8 1/4" tall with a 3 1/4" bottom diameter.

The smaller bottle is marked "Wheaton No Sol-Vit 19 U.S.A." This apothecary bottle has a glass stoppers attached to the bottle neck by a metal chain and spring. This bottle is approximately 7 1/4" tall with a 2 1/2" bottom diameter.

I gave the bottles a light cleaning, preserving the patina of age. The bottles have residue and soiling inside. Should you prefer, you could certainly give them deep cleaning and remove the labels.

These bottles are part of a collection I recently acquired from a chemist who worked for Fritzsche, a company that made essential oils and chemicals for the perfume industry, back in the 1960s. I have a selection of other chemistry glass that I will be listing in my shop over the next few weeks.

Postmark Permit Postage Paid Letterpress Block Indicia New York N.Y. Vintage U.S. Post Office -- NY Edison Co. -- Cancel Stamp -- Con Edison by HappyFortuneVintage

88.00 USD

I just thought this vintage U.S. Postal Service postage paid permit letterpress block indicia from New York, N.Y. was pretty cool when I picked it up at an estate sale.

The research librarian in me set out to discover what the type on the block meant. Here's what I uncovered.

"Sec. 562 P.L. & R." dates the use of this stamp between October 1, 1932 & February 25, 1949.

This letterpress stamp block was used for pre-paid postage on bulk mailings.

"P.L. & R." stands for Postage Laws & Regulations.

Postage Paid Permit No. 2309 was issued to the NY Edison Co and was first used on January 3, 1925.

Consolidate Gas, the parent company of New York Edison, changed its name to the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc, (Con Ed) in 1936.

Condition: The block was used during its time and shows wear. To preserve its aged patina, I have not given the block a deep cleaning. The wooden block has the traces of engraved lettering on the top. I can make out "562" &"N.Y.C."

Measurements: Block measures 3" x 1 1/8" x 1"

The smallest bottle does not have a stopper. It is marked " T.C.W. Co. U.S.A. 4" on the bottom. The medium-size bottle has the number "91" on the front of it, a glass stopper, and is marked "Wheaton USA" on the bottom. The largest bottle has a glass stopper marked "Pyrex 24." The stopper is chipped around the base that inserts into the bottle. The bottle is marked "Trade Mark F-8 Pyrex R Made in U.S.A." on the bottom.

Vintage Art Poster - Marshall Plan Europe ERP Contest Poster -- Original Lithograph - Political Poster by HappyFortuneVintage

325.00 USD

Designed by Gusta Aberg, this graphically striking image of wire cutters cutting through barbed wire was a Swedish entry in the Intra-European Cooperation for a Better Standard of Living 1950 poster contest sponsored by the European Recovery Program (ERP), more popularly known as the Marshall Plan.

The ERP or Marshall Plan (1948 - 1951), conceived by George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff during WW II & Truman's Secretary of State, sought to politically stabilize & rebuild the economies of war-torn European countries while hindering the spread of Communism.

A panel of 12 graphic artists, one from each of the countries benefiting from the Marshall Plan, selected 25 winning posters from over 10,000 entries. The posters are graphically stunning pieces of political propaganda and historically interesting bits of ephemera from the early Cold War era.

Artist: Gusta Aberg
Country: Sweden
21.5" x 29.5" (55x 75 cm)
Lithograph
Printed The Netherlands by Kuhn en Zoon, Rotterdam
1950
Text in Swedish -- Translation "Marshall Help"

The poster is in very good condition. It has only minor edge wear with two or three very small edge tears of about 1/8" or less and one ding in the paper near the bottom (see photograph two). I have encased the poster in a removable archival sleeve (acid free Krystal Seal).

I have all 25 prize-winning posters and will be listing them in my shop over the next few weeks. If you are interested in a particular poster in the series and don't see it listed, or you would like to purchase the entire set, please send me a message.

Green Glass Vase - Black Parrot Vase - Vintage Vase - Art Deco Style by HappyFortuneVintage

$

0

65.00 USD

Impressive tall green glass vase has a dramatic black parrot & floral transfer design reminiscent of silver overlay designs found on glass Rockwell vases of the Art Deco period. This is a beautiful and unusual vintage vase.

I'm not sure exactly when this vase was made, as it does not have a markers mark, but its styling and manufacturing clues indicate that is was most likely made in the 1930s - 1940s.

The glass is not actually green. It has a paint transfer coating giving it the effect of cased glass. There are seams on each side of the green paint transfer but the seams are not evident inside the vase.

The vase shows wear including scratches, paint loss, and soiling.

Approximately 10" tall, 5" at its widest point, 3" base diameter.

Brass Bells - Bells of Sarna - Sarna Brass India - Bell Trio - Bells on a Rope by HappyFortuneVintage

45.00 USD

These Bells of Sarna were part of an avid bell enthusiast's collection. The graduated brass bells are strung on a decorative multicolored rope and have a lovely melodic sound when rung.

Brass Sarna bells are made in India & Indonesia, but not in a town named "Sarna." The bells, along with other India decorative brass items were imported to the U.S.A. by Sajjian Singh Sarna. Born in Rawalpindi (now part of Pakistan) in 1920, Sarna came to the United States to study dairy manufacturing, but instead found his calling importing Indian handicrafts. He created a thriving business, and was a member of the American Bell Association. He died in the 1970s.

This set of brass bells dates to the 1950s - 1960s and are marked SSS India.

Bell Measurements including handles
Small: 2 3/4"
