Before there was Dick, Jane, Sally and Spot, there was Nip and Tuck, the antic dog duo created by Grace E. Storm and beautifully illustrated by Vera Stone Norman.

Published in 1936 by Lyons & Carnahan, this delightful children's early reader book is packed with color illustrations suitable for framing.

The book is in fair condition. Donald wrote his name in pencil near the upper left corner of the book's cover and again across the back cover. The inside cover has a hand-written inscription, "District 225 Sept. 1938." The cloth tape on the binding is peeling off. The corners are worn and bumped. There are two small holes on the cover that go through to the first page of the book. A few of the illustrations have light soiling. As a librarian, I shake a little bit to say this, but this book is a cutter. The illustrations would make a wonderful series of framed colorful prints in a nursery or children's playroom.

Vintage Symphony Scarf with it's original Village Vogue Chicago department store price tag is a true rare find. The mid-century modern art fish mobile motif is simply fantastic. The scarf also has its signature Symphony Scarf metal violin hang tag as well as a cloth tag stating "Hand Rolled Pure Silk Made in Japan."

This scarf is a work of art! You can certainly wear it, but the scarf could also be framed and used as a wall hanging.

Ten tiny birds molded from plaster chalkware, these colorful rare birds can be used as cake toppers, in arts & crafts projects such as shadowboxes, or simply displayed on a library shelf or your office desk.

Each miniature bird is hand painted, has wire legs, and stands on a chalkware base.

These delicate birds are in remarkable condition for their age, eight of which are in very good to excellent vintage condition. One blue bird is missing its wing, and one wing tip on the white crane has broken off (see photograph three).

Super cool vintage Texas souvenir playing card deck made in Hong Kong is in crisp & clean condition. The box is tattered, but it's not about the box. It's about the fabulous graphic design on the back of each playing card which manages to get in the Long Star State's important cities and landmarks as well as images of oil wells, a ten gallon hat, a cowboy, and long horns.

Vintage Gossard Loungeware hostess caftan gown, this retro 1960s maxi-length house dress is a stunner. Take a close look at the fabric. Vibrant squares of yellow, orange, green, turquoise & white form an amazing geometric pattern across the fabric.

This is a "Pocket Rocket" badge, formally known as a Missile Badge, Missilier Badge, and the Missileman Badge. It was award to United States Air Force (USAF) personnel during the Cold War era to those trained to launch land-based nuclear weapons. It was also given to Air Force engineers.

The pin was manufactured by N.S. Meyer, Inc, in New York.

The pin is in very good condition. It has two clutch-back pin mounts but is missing their caps which can easily be replaced.

Alleluia!

Rainbow-colored enamel alleluia pendant made by Terra Sancta Guild Israel harkens back to the age of aquarius and folk rock masses. A fabulous piece of religious jewelry, the piece is heavy and of very high quality.

The pendant necklace is on a silky navy blue cord that ties around the neck. Dating from the late 1960s - early 1970s, the pendant is in excellent vintage condition. I don't think it was ever worn. Pendant is hallmarked on the back "Terra Sancta Guild Israel Phila" along with a copyright symbol.

Pendant comes in a gift box ready for giving.

A tiny vintage German lusterware salt cellar basket makes a big home decor statement. Embellished with a detailed flower cluster, this finely made porcelain collectible is very similar to some Elfinware pottery I've seen from the same era. It's an interesting combination of lusterware and Elfinware technique. Truly special, it would make a lovely hostess gift or decorative accent in an Easter display

Lusterware porcelain is made with a metallic glaze that produces an iridescent finish. Lusterware has an ancient history and can be traced back to Roman and Coptic Egypt Copper luster is produced from gold.

Vintage wood Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer planter, invite him to be the centerpiece at your Christmas dinner.

Kitchy and cute, Rudolf has goggly eyes and vintage fabric poinsettia secured in florist foam in his planter basket.

Rudolf was very possibly created from a built-it-yourself kit available in the 1960s - early 1970s.

Rudolf is in very good condition. His red cotton-ball nose has some dried glue on it.

Vintage Eldorado 17 jewel purse watch has a cool sliding case design. Initially patented in France in 1930, this sliding case design was the hallmark of the Movado Ermeto purse watch which was copied by several high-end German & Swiss watch factories. Obviously, this "Eldorado" branded watch is one of those knock offs.

Designed as a travel watch that could be carried in your purse or pocket, the case has a built in easel stand that slides out so the watch can sit upright on a table or desk. The watch is stem set and wound. It has a sweeping red-tipped arrow second hand. It has a jump ring loop for a chain. The case opens by gently pulling the two sides apart. The case covering appears to be leather.

The watch is marked "Made in Germany" along with two U.S. patent numbers. The patent numbers date the watch to the 1950s.

The watch is in working condition and keeps fairly accurate time. After running for three hours, the watch gained one minute.

The watch's gold tone metal casing shows wear particularly around the wind-up stem. The case exterior shows wear. Please see the photographs for more information about condition. I'd be happy to send you additional photographs of this classic timepiece.

Watch measures 2 1/4" closed & 3" open. The case is 1 1/2" wide. The watch face is approximately 1 1/8" square. Case is approximately 3/8" deep at its widest point.

This very early piece of Higgins glass is a wonderful example of their fused and molded glass technique. The small ashtray or dish has a classic mid-century design, shape & color combination -- black, brown, sea foam green & gold color combination.

Initially created as an ashtray, you can use this small Higgins piece as intended (which I would not recommend -- bad for you and the art object), as a dish, or as part of an art glass display.

Founded in 1948, Frances & Michael Higgins began producing their now famous art glass in their Chicago apartment with kilns set up behind their sofa. Using the ancient art of glass fusing, the Higgins created the quintessential art glass of the Mid-Century Modern era.

This piece has an etched "Higgins" signature and dates to 1948 to the early 1950s. The dish is in very good vintage condition.

Vintage metal drink coasters with lithograph cocktail pictures on the front with the corresponding recipes on the back are just, well ultra cool. Dating from the 1960s, this gently used retro coaster set is perfect for a party. The beverage coasters would make a great housewarming gift.

Three (3) volumes from the prestigeous Bibliothèque de la Pléiade series of books, this decorative set of books includes the complete works of Pascal, Corneille, La Rochefoucauld. Mais qui, les livres sont en Français. This is a terrific starter collection for your library.

Created in the 1931 by Jacques Schiffrins, who later went on to found Pantheon Books, Bibliothèque de la Pléiade volumes are high-quality books with a slightly larger than pocket-size format. Each book in the set is bound in leather, has gold gilt lettering and spine decorations, a clear plastic dust jacket and is printed on Bible paper -- a thin grade of wood-free uncoated paper often used for Bibles containing cotton or linen fibers which increases the paper's durability without adding bulk. The books were published by Gallimard and printed in France.

The red leather bindings are in very good condition. Each volume has two attached red ribbon book marks. Some minor soiling on pages edges, most notably on the top page edges of the Pascal volume. The top edge pages of Corneille & La Rochefoucauld are tinted gray. The Pascal volume is illustrated. The clear plastic dust covers show shelf wear around the edges, most noticeably at the top of the spines. There is a small tear on the plastic dust cover at the top front of the La Rochefoucauld volume. There is some rubbing at bottom edges of the book. Over all, this collection is very good condition.

Naked lady brass legs nutcracker - oh my!

The shapely legs of this nutcracker open on a hinge allowing you to place a nut between the legs, close the device and crack the shell. More decorative than functional, this cool art deco inspired brass nutcracker would make a great man cave gift.

The nutcracker is 4 3/4" long and heavy for its size. The nutcracker dates from the 1950s and it shows its age. The brass has a nice patina including oxidation spots and pitting. I gave the nutcracker a quick cleaning but did not polish it up as I prefer the aged patina, and you might too.
