Vintage mid century 10 inch Replogle globe on a modern wire stand, this reference globe has a full meridian & shows the world circa 1954 to 1958. Vietnam has just been divided by north & south and is referred to as the "Southern Zone" & the "Northern Zone" as set out in the Geneva Accords of 1954.
You'll find the Belgian Congo (1908 - 1960), French West Africa (1895 - 1960), French Equatorial Africa (1910 - 1959), the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland (1953 - 1963) & Bechuanaland (1885 - 1966), none of which exist today. Tunisia is independent from France (1956). Lativa, Estonia, & Lithuania are noted and are included as part of the U.S.S.R. East Germany is referred to as the "Soviet Zone."
The globe is made of coated paper gores over pressboard and has a black wire base with red "feet" to protect your table surface. It has a full metal meridian and a night/day dial at the top. The 10" globe spins freely and swivels in an articulated frame for easy viewing. It is in good condition for a 55+ year-old globe showing typical wear including soiling, a few spots of paper loss, and some damage near the Palmer Peninsula in Antarctica (please see photograph 4).

This is a nice compact globe with a mid-century modern look perfect for display by itself or in a group.
