Perfect for your 1950s retro kitchen look, this vintage magnetic bulletin board has a delightful yellow & orange graphic border with fish, rolling pins, ears of corn, tomatoes, & carrots.

Known as a "Maggie Board," the notice board was made in the U.S.A. by Maggie Magnetic, Inc. The magnetic metal board has been painted to look like a chalkboard.

The board surface has some scratches on it and one small rusty spot which might buff out. Please look at the photographs for more information about condition.

The magnetic board measures 14" x 11."

Individual Arabia Finland stoneware au gratin dishes are modern and functional. Made to bring from oven to table, the small dishes are big enough to hold delicious individual au gratins or casserole servings. The plates have Arabia's classic pink ribbon design and hallmarks which date their manufacture from 1964 - 1971.

In operation since 1873, Arabia is one of Scandinavia's most prestigious pottery houses.

Each au gratin measures 6 1/2" across including handles, with a 5 1/2" top diameter and 4 1/2" bottom diameter. Dishes are about 1 1/8" deep.

The au gratins are in good condition but do show signs of wear. One of the dishes has a few light spots and crazing on the bottom. This dish also has two spots just below the outside edge where the pottery glaze has chipped away.

Rare antique wooden spooled thread from the Willington Mills in Connecticut, this complete & unused box has 12 spools of black cotton thread. The box has an amazing cover graphic of the Willington Mill in full operation.

Each wood spool has 200 yards of thread and is marked "G. Hall Jr. Co. U.S. A. Willington, Conn." on one side and, "Willington Mills 8 200 yds" on the other side. The thread and box are in very good condition. The box has some light soiling, marks on the sides, and wear at the side thumb indentations.

Willington Mills was the first cotton thread manufacturer in the United States. The Connecticut company began production in 1830. The mill was taken over by Gardiner Hall, Jr. Co in 1860. The enterprising Hall family created a thriving community in South Millington, to go along with their thriving business. According to Wade's Fibre & Fabric Vol. XL of 1890, the Hall's established "The neatest little village" for their employees.

The Willington Mills building still stands, and is now referred to as "The Mill." It has been converted into a thriving artisan and business community.

Box measures 7 1/4" by 4 1/4" by 1 1/2." Each spool measures 1 3/4" with 1 1/4" diameter.

I have another box of unused black cotton thread from Willington Mills that I will be listing soon. This second box is smaller with 12 wooden spools each with 80 yards of thread. Please feel free to send me message if you are interest in this box.

Just a simple golf ball is what I thought when I found this vintage ball among some assorted garage debris in an old Girl Scout tin. It's a Spalding Red Dot 2 with a Cadwell Cover.

And research uncovers that golf balls are not so simple. The technology inside and outside a small golf ball is quite amazing and interesting. The size and weight of golf balls are strictly regulated, the outside dimpling can have dramatic effect on the ball's play. The first golf ball patent was awarded in 1876 for a gutta-percha covered ball. This Red Dot Spalding golf ball has a Cadwell Cover, a vulcanizing process developed in 1935 by chemist Sidney Cadwell for the U.S. Rubber Co.

This Spalding Red Dot 2 shows wear including soiling and scuffs. It comes to you in its found state. I have not attempted to clean it.

The Louvre Museum General Guidebook takes you back to circa 1960s Paris, France. Mona Lisa smiles from the bright red cover of this art and travel guide.

An interesting historical document, this illustrated guide gives an in-depth description of the museum's collections and their locations within the historic building. The advertisements in the back of the book add a charming touch. Photograph 5 shows my favorite, "Visit the Tchecoslovaquia."

The cover shows wear and there is some peeling as shown in the photographs. Pages show aging typical of a book from the 1960s. Binding is tight.

Shiny Brite, the iconic American Christmas ornament company produced a fantastic array of glass holiday baubles from the late 1930s into the 1960s. This set of lantern-shaped glass ornaments have red, green & white stripes. They came to me tied with the red ribbon you see in the photographs and I have kept the ornaments together.

The ornaments have lost most of their silvering. One of the ornaments has a replacement metal top which is marked "Poland" and doesn't quite fit the bulb. The other one has metal cap marked "Shiny Brite Made in U.S.A." The ornaments have typical signs of aging with spots, paint loss, & discoloration.

One ornament is approximately 2 3/4" long. The other one is about 3" long.

With their blonde hair, blue eyes, black & white robes & red ties, this set of ceramic triplet choir boys will add a sweet touch to your Christmas holiday display. Made in Japan, the figurine has its original NikoNiko Hand Painted foil sticker.

The choir boys are in very good vintage condition. No cracks. No chips, and almost no paint loss. There is a manufacturing defect on the middle choir boy's back.

The Rite of Exorcism vinyl lp has amazing cover art & is the perfect sound track for a spooky halloween party. Published by Crunch Records in 1974, the recording was conceived and researched by Rev. Patrick J. Berkery with an original script by Morty Jay.

Album sleeve is in good condition showing typical wear. There is a small notch along the top right side, wear including some paper loss around the edges and some scratches. The white inner sleeve has a tear. The vinyl lp is clean and plays well.

Alphabet Thesaurus Nine Thousand by Photo Lettering Inc. is an impressive collection of typeface fonts gathered for the commercial printing and graphic arts community. The reference book is packed with over 700 pages of alphabet samples with a weight comparator. The manual includes Otto Herman border designs and a section on photo-lettering techniques.

The manual was used in a graphic design firm and shows typical wear for a reference book. The cloth-bound cover is worn at the edges and corners. Binding is in tact. Pages are clean. A few pages dog-eared and rumpled at the edges. Previous owners name written in ink on the front endpaper. This is a very heavy book.

Vintage velvet paisley turban is as chic today as it was back in the 1960s. The beautiful velvet hat is lined with bright green cotton and matching grosgrain ribbon band. The multi-color velvet includes yellow, green, red, blue & black and in a pleasing paisley swirl. Hat has the United Hatters Cap and Millinery Union label.

The turban is very good vintage condition. Lining is clean.

Hat does not have a sizing label. Fits like a small - medium.

Vintage fleur de lis with a gold gilt finish broke off the top of a French provincial style lamp decades ago. The lamp is long gone. The finial made its way to the garage where it hung on a hook until I recently picked it up and brought it into the house.

Ripe for repurposing, this cool bit of salvage can be used as a wall hanging or worked into a new arts & craft project.

The fleur de lis is in very good condition. I'm not sure of the piece's composition. There is a seam running along the sides indicating that it was made in a mold. It is not hollow and has some heft to it.

Insects, a perennially favorite reading subject for children, are rendered in beautiful lithographs in this vintage children's book.

A Child's Book of Insects by Sy Barlowe published in 1952 by Maxton Publishing is filled with information along with detailed bug art in color and in black & white. The front cover binding is quite decorative with a dandelion and various bugs including a dragonfly, butterfly, & bees. I could envision the volume displayed cover out on a shelf in a nursery or child's room.

The book once belonged to the Cedar Grove, NJ School system and has a stamp on the inside front endpaper "Aug 1960 Property of Board of Education of Cedar Grove." Other than the stamp, it is free of marks. It does has a ripped page (see photography 4). Several other pages have small tears near the bottom that do not interfere with the insect pictures. The spine shows some wear most notably at the bottom and at the edges.

This classic black handkerchief is a sophisticated retro accessory. There was a time when a woman would never leave the house without a hanky tucked into her handbag.

This is a lovely mid-century cotton handkerchief with an embroidered floral design in one corner. The hand-rolled edges are in excellent condition. Hanky was gently, or possibly never used. It's freshly laundered and ready to join your collection.

Although there is no content label, the fabric feels like cotton.

Poor Audie, this vintage record of friendship inspirational book with bible scripture quotes given to her by her friend Lottie in 1937 reveals that she was engaged to Bill on June 5, 1940, but that the planned October 12, 1940 wedding was "Not God's Will."

This is a pretty little pocket-size book with a sky blue cloth cover decorated in gold & dark blue. The front cover and binding have sprays of the forget - me - not flowers of the book's title.

The volume has beautiful floral lithographs throughout. Each day page has a red leaf boarder. The edges are gilded in gold. The book is in very good condition.

The book starts with January 1 and has a day page for each date in the year with a selected bible scripture. There is room on the bottom of each of these pages to make a notation, or in Audie's use of the book, note the birthday date of a particular friend.

Lottie inscribed the book to Audie for Christmas 1937. Lottie used a series of blank pages at the back of the volume to make notations on events in her life from January 1938 until September 1940.

Victorian hat pin, this antique piece of jewelry shows a fine example of 19th-century micro mosaic work. Set into a flower-shaped brass casing, the each petal has star insets. The centerpiece has a lovely daisy design.

Measurements: Total length: 9 1/8"; Pin Shaft 9"; Micro Mosaic measures just shy of an inch.

Condition: The pin is in good condition. It shows wear and has a nice patina of age. There are a few chips on the setting. The pin shaft is straight and has some worn spots.

Comes in a decorative gift box ready for giving.

A.T.A. Standard Type Book published in 1951, also referred to as the A.T.A. Perpetual Type Book, was developed by the Advertising Typographers Association of America between 1925 & 1948. This set was printed by William Patrick Co., Inc in Newark, N.J.

Publishers, printers, lithographers & graphic artists used this reference to select type face from hundreds of type specimen sheets. The binders are filled with type specimens in their available points and weights.

The Forward in binder number 1 of this four volume set states "This set of A.T.A. Perpetual Type Book, comprised of three volumes, is No. 107 and is presented to Multi-Color Lithographers Newark, N.J." The fourth volume may have been added over time as the Standard Type Book was designed to be expandable as new type faces were developed and published.

This 4 volume set of type specimens is a typography gold mine for an artist or crafter.

Housed in very sturdy brown loose-leaf binders with gold stamped titles, the volumes are in good over-all condition. The binders were obviously used day-to-day and show wear. Some of the pages are soiled. Volume II has pink paint on the edges of the pages and binder (see photograph 3). The binders appear to be full and there are about 50 additional type face pages that are separate from the volumes.

Each binders measure 11 3/4" x 10" x 1 3/4".

Ruby red lucite and gold tone metal vintage Swank cuff links would make a great gift for the French-cuff dress shirt loving dad. The ridged border gives the cufflinks a sunburst effect -- a very atomic 1950s touch.

The cufflinks are in good vintage condition. There is some rubbing to the gold at the point the link hooks through the cuff link hole. It would not be noticeable when worn.

The cuff links are clearly marked "Swank" on back of the gold and lucite sunburst and inside the link bar.

Sunburst measures approximately 3/4" & the cufflink measures about 1" total with the link bar closed.
