What an odd mix of photographs in this old deteriorating photo album. There are pictures of Algiers from 1938 including street, harbor & market scenes, snake charmers and salt caves, snapshots of a US Navel officer posing in front of a terminal at Newark Airport (1951), a group of people summering at a cabin in the woods, two portraits of school girls (Honey & Marie) from Ridgewood, NJ circa 1935, and more. There are over 90 photographs in all.

The photographs are old, and some are beginning to fade, but over all they are in good condition.

The photo album is in poor condition, with staining across the entire back cover and crumbling pages. Most of the pages do not contain photographs. I'd be glad to send you just the album pages that have photographs and not the entire photo album, should you prefer.

The Algeria photographs are in an approximately 4 1/4" x 2 7/8" format.
Some snapshots are about 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" & 4 1/2" x 3 1/4"
There is also a 10" x 8" portrait of a baby with a pail on the beach which has been partially hand colored in blue.

This curious lot was purchase at an estate sale in Paterson, N.J.

I love the shape of these vintage melmac cups. The yellow harvest gold color is so 1970s! Each melmac (also known as melamine) cup has a white interior.

This set of plastic cups will add an instant sunny touch to your retro kitchen decor. And, they are perfect for BBQs and picnics.

Cups are marked "504" on the bottom but have no manufacturer's name.

Condition: Cups are in good vintage condition showing typical wear for moderated used melmac from the 1970s. Some light scratches and faint marks. One cup has a yellow spot on the white interior that matches the color of the melmac. I'm guessing this is a manufacturing defect.

Vintage Halloween costume treasure trove includes a muslin gauze rabbit mask, linen children's costumes and a vintage Halloween masquerade costume box with classic Halloween graphics. These are very old costumes circa 1930s.

The fabulous rabbit mask was stored folded (see photograph 1), and has a center crease. It does not have a string or elastic to secure it in place. The hand-painted face is just amazing and the linen muslin gauze is in excellent condition.

The costumes have been heavily used. Some of them are ripped on the seams, as if they had been worn by children who had outgrown them, and some of them had been put away soiled. I have not attempted to clean or repair them. I will leave that up to the purchaser. I tried to give a sense of their condition in the photographs, but if you are serious about purchasing this lot, I'd be happy to send you additional photographs so you can get a better idea of the condition. The costumes are made out of high-quality light-weight fabric--I'm guessing it's linen, as it feels and looks like it. They really are just wonderful despite the poor condition some of them are in.

The vintage halloween costume box is in good shape but does have a rip on one side of the lid and a split corner on the other side, as well as some soiling. The halloween graphics are amazing--there is a black bat, a witch on a broomstick, the crescent moon with a man's features, stars, two children in clown costumes, a harvest scene--and this is all on the front of the box. The edge of the lid is decorated with a series of children in various costumes including a cowboy, drum majorette, Dutch boy, wooden soldier, maid, and a gypsy. The box is marked "American Toys" on the front and "No. 1800 Style Tramp Size Medium (38, 40) Masquerade Costume" on the one side of the lid.

Bring back the art of letter writing with this faux leather vintage stationery folder. The "Correspondence Secretary" has an elaborate embossed cover. The tri-fold organizer opens to reveal a small green felt-like desk blotter and two side compartments for storing your stationery.

Constructed from heavy cardboard, the folio is sturdy enough to serve as a lap-top writing board or a desk organizer for important papers.

The folio comes with some of its original stationery. There are twelve sheets of 10 1/2" x 7" paper and twenty-four sheets of the same size paper that have been folded in half.

Portofolio measures approximately 12" x 8 1/4" closed and 12" x 25" open. The folio is in over all good condition. It shows wear around the edges and at the top and bottom of the spine. The writing paper is in good condition. A few sheets show yellowing.

Poised on his back legs, this striking brown rabbit will win your heart. Made by Lefton, the Japanese ceramic company, the 1960s vintage rabbit figurine has fine detail and a very expressive face.

Although not obviously an Easter bunny, the rabbit would surely shine in a spring holiday display.

The figurine is in excellent vintage condition. No chips. No cracks. No crazing.

The piece is marked "H6664" on the bottom but is missing its Lefton sticker.

I just thought this vintage U.S. Postal Service postage paid permit letterpress block indicia from New York, N.Y. was pretty cool when I picked it up at an estate sale.

The research librarian in me set out to discover what the type on the block meant. Here's what I uncovered.

"Sec. 562 P.L. & R." dates the use of this stamp between October 1, 1932 & February 25, 1949.

This letterpress stamp block was used for pre-paid postage on bulk mailings.

"P.L. & R." stands for Postage Laws & Regulations.

Postage Paid Permit No. 2309 was issued to the NY Edison Co and was first used on January 3, 1925.

Consolidate Gas, the parent company of New York Edison, changed its name to the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc, (Con Ed) in 1936.

Condition: The block was used during its time and shows wear. To preserve its aged patina, I have not given the block a deep cleaning. The wooden block has the traces of engraved lettering on the top. I can make out "562" &"N.Y.C."

Measurements: Block measures 3" x 1 1/8" x 1"

With her gorgeous blue eyes, glamorous dress, and dramatic coif, this 1960s beauty is a stunner against the dark blue background of this vintage hair salon poster.

Published in Chicago by Hair Style of the Month, this original poster was produced for display in hair and beauty salons across the United States. The poster is printed on sturdy coated paper and has an image on both sides.

This poster was displayed in a Chicago hair salon and shows wear. One side of the double-sided poster is slightly faded from the sun. There is a tear on one side and a dark spot on one side of the poster near the top.The poster was stored rolled up for many years.

Measurements: 20" x 16".

Designed by Gusta Aberg, this graphically striking image of wire cutters cutting through barbed wire was a Swedish entry in the Intra-European Cooperation for a Better Standard of Living 1950 poster contest sponsored by the European Recovery Program (ERP), more popularly known as the Marshall Plan.

The ERP or Marshall Plan (1948 - 1951), conceived by George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff during WW II & Truman's Secretary of State, sought to politically stabilize & rebuild the economies of war-torn European countries while hindering the spread of Communism.

A panel of 12 graphic artists, one from each of the countries benefiting from the Marshall Plan, selected 25 winning posters from over 10,000 entries. The posters are graphically stunning pieces of political propaganda and historically interesting bits of ephemera from the early Cold War era.

My jaw dropped when I came across a stash of new old stock vintage Esterbrook Penesco No 509 Medium stub italic calligraphy dip point pen nibs at a recent estate sale. Made in Camden, New Jersey, there are 144 (a gross) steel pen nibs in each box.

Each box offered in this listing is in excellent unused vintage condition and has never been opened. Some of the box seals are intact, some of them are beginning to break.

This listing is for one box of vintage Esterbrook Penesco No 509 Medium Stub nibs. The slide-open box design and the Penesco tag dates the manufacturing of these nibs to the 1940s.

In the first half of the 20th Century, a tie bar was part of every well-dressed man's wardrobe. This unique example bears a shield, cross and lantern emblem most likely from a fraternal order or religious group.

The gold tone shows wear and has rubbed off in some places, but other wise the piece is in good condition. Tie bar style dates this piece to the 1930s or early 1940s.

Vintage photography studio wedding party portrait provides wonderful insight into 1920s fashion and style. Big beautiful rose bouquets for the attendants, fabulous calla lily flowers for the bride, and lovely lace gowns, clues that this must have been a very upscale celebration.

The portrait is mounted in a gray heavy card-stock presentation folder with amazing silver-leaf border detail. The folder is marked "Adamoff, 74 Market St, Passaic, N.J." Top left-hand corner of the folder is bumped, but otherwise the cover and photograph are in amazing condition for their age.

Very old composite over wood nativity stable animal figure is a rare find. Made in Germany in the 1930s, the ox was meant for display in a Christmas creche or Putz village. Ox is stamped "Germany" on the underside.

Ox shows his age. He had horns on his head which broke off long ago. His wooden stick legs have signs of being repairs with glue.

Measures approximately 6" long x 4 1/4" tall x 2" at his widest point.
