You child is unlikely to want to be a telephone operator, but as an adult of a certain age, you'll get a kick out of this children's book detailing a now antiquated job. The illustrations were very modern for its time.
Written by Carla Greene and designed by Mary Gehr, this child's career book is part of a series published in the late 1950s and early 1960s by the Children's Press. The green cloth binding has yellow graphics of children dressed in the clothing for various careers, such as a fireman, doctor, teacher, cowboy, seamstress, baker, and football player.
Would make a great gift for someone who works in today's fast paced telecommunications industry.
Book is in good condition for a 50+ year-old children's book that was used in a public school system. The cloth binding is fraying at the edges and has worn away completely at the top and base of the spine. Binding is tight. One page has a small tear at the top ( see photograph four). Book has a date (May 29, 1961) and Cedar Grove, N.J. Board of Education stamp on the front right-hand side endpaper.
