Box of 12 Silver Shiny Brite Glass Ornaments in Original Box


In 1939, with World War II fast approaching fast, Max Eckardt made a decision to shift his glass Christmas ornament manufacturing business from Germany to the U.S.A., thus the Shiny Brite business was born. These 12 silver glass ornaments come in their original box with Uncle Sam shaking Santa Claus's hand and the statement "American Made."

Each ornament has a metal cap stamped "Shiny Brite Made in U.S.A."

Condition: Decorations are in very good vintage condition for glass ornaments from the 1940s. The have some spotting, oxidation, and some paint loss. The original box is in exceptionally good condition.

Measurements: Approximately 3" from top of cap; 2 5/8" tall not including the cap x 2 3/4" wide; 9" diameter.

Du Barry Vintage Sewing Pattern # 5541, this wonderful 1940s nightgown pattern has bishop sleeves and a back tie. Very fashionable! And with the right fabric, the pattern could be used to make an evening gown or long dress.

Pattern is complete and in excellent condition. Comes with original sewing guide. Envelope shows wear particularly at the edges and around the opening. It has some splitting along the sides and a tear at the bottom.

The stories of Greek mythology deserve their place in the pantheon of great literature. Bulfinch's The Age of Fable, or, Stories of Gods and Heroes, the precursor to his famous Bulfinch's Mythology, provides a solid introduction to the stories and gods of Greek & Roman mythology. Included in the volume is a section on Eastern mythologies including Hindu, Zoroaster, and Buddhism, as well as stories of the Druids, elves, and Baldur.

Beautifully illustrated throughout with simple drawings, the book also has an index and a section of "Proverbial Experssions." Bound in decorative cloth binding in shades of green & black with the title in gold lettering on the spine, the cover illustration is a bit of a mystery to me as it does not correspond to the stories within the text showing a teepee, sailboat, and young boy in what looks to be scholarly garb.

Published by Hurst and Company in New York, the book does not have a date. Styling points to the book being published in the late 1800s or early 1900s.

The book is in fair condition. The cover shows wear with worn spots and torn cloth at the edges. The binding is not tight but is intact. Paper shows typical yellowing for its age. Previous owner underlining and hand-written additions to the index.

It's a toss up what's cooler, the Kenner Dolly Dressmaker doll clothes pattern sewing kit or the funky "Genuine Amen-ized Pak" from Amen "the last word in value!" which billed itself as "the world's largest merchandizer of self-service products."

Although the Amen-ized Pak seal was broken when I found this treasure, the packaging provided enough protection through the years to keep the Dolly Dressmaker pattern kit in fabulous condition. The kit includes pre-cut fabric, buttons and illustrated sewing instructions.

Vintage mosaic mid-century modern tile dish, this round decorative plate can be used for tidbits, as a catch-all tray, or hung on the wall.

This versatile vintage mosaic art dish has a turquoise aluminum base and a vibrant array of red, plum, dark green & white tiles.

This classic bit of 1950s - early 1960s home decor is in very good vintage condition. No chipped or cracked tiles. There are a few minor spots on the bottom of the plate--see photograph two--which may come out with a good scrubbing. The dish has three green felt table guards on the bottom.

This loose-leaf letter sample sheet from Comp/Type Inc's 1970 Photo Lettering Photo Composition Catalog is a cool example of a retro typesetting sample dating back to a time when graphic artists actually cut and pasted type fonts on paper.

"Merry Christmas & Happy New Year" is in Bookman Meola and "Sugar & Spice" is in Bookman Italic.

Condition: Loose-leaf sheet is in very good vintage condition.

Amazing vintage Christmas cards produced by California Artists circa 1960s of Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem pausing by a waterfall. The Star of Bethlehem shines brightly in the black night sky over the figures of the haloed Mary and Joseph and their donkey.

Exceptionally high quality art reproduction gold-trimmed cards with envelopes in their original gold-foil box, are in very good unused/new vintage condition. They truly don't make holiday cards like this anymore.

Remarkable 3-D pop-up Hallmark church shows a charming Victorian winter scene. Dating from the 1950s, I believe this 3 dimension decoration was intended to be used as Christmas holiday centerpiece.

The pop up measures 12" x 10 1/2" closed and 12" x 21" open. Measures approximately 10" tall from the card base to the top of the church steeple.

The display is in overall good condition with a few issues consistent with age. It has some staining on the bottom (see photograph 4) which does shows through slightly on the pop-up side. The base of the steeple is a bit crumpled and the little girl dressed in a red coat closest to the church door (see photograph 2) has a small tear.

The pop up is marked "Hallmark" &"Litho in Japan."

These are the real deal -- vintage Shiny Brite glass Christmas ornaments. This 12-pack assortment in shades of pink & red, is very old, dating back to the late 1940s.

The ornaments show their age. They are discolored, spotted, faded & have paint loss. But, they are beautiful. Some of them have white stuff on them which I'm guessing is old spray on "snow." Please look closely at the photographs.

Ornaments come in the bottom portion of an original Shiny Brite box. The box is missing its top.

Assortment includes stripes in pink, white, silver & gold, two of which have some mica. Four ornaments have stenciling (3 with "Merry Christmas" & 1 with Santa flying in his sled with reindeer).

Orbs are approximately 3" from cap to base.

Gigantic! That's the word to describe the largest mold in this set of vintage chocolate molds. From an avid chocolate maker and mold collector's stash, each of the 5 metal egg molds are in two halves. Although these molds were not manufactured as a set, they fit very well together.

The largest one is marked "made in the U.S.A.," and dates from the 1940s. The next two are marked "T.C. Weygandt Co., New York, U.S.A. Made in Germany," and date from the 1930s. The smaller two do not have maker's marks but are comparable in weight, quality, & manufacture date. The molds are heavy, not thin aluminum.

Molds are in good condition. They show wear & are spotted on the exterior but do not have any dents. The interior of all but the smallest mold are in good condition. The smallest one has a few small rust spots and scrap marks.

The Babe of Bethlehem booklet published by the Benziger Brothers in 1923 has amazing lithograph illustrations printed in Germany. Suitable for framing, or use in scrapbooking & arts & crafts projects, the colorful prints show the story of Jesus Christ's birth.

Including the front and back cover illustrations, there are 6 prints.

The booklet is not in good condition. The front & back covers and last page of the 4-page booklet have separated from the stapled binding. The paper is fragile. Please look closely at the photographs as they are part of the description. The beautiful lithograph prints are suitable for matting and framing.

Vintage Zell Fifth Avenue "Pocket Watch" compact with Christian cross motif looks as if it was barely used. The compact is lined with red felt & has its original black tassel. The compact has a concentric circle pattern on the back and is stamped "U.S.A."

Zell Fifth Avenue pocket watch compacts were made to look and work like a pocket watch. Push on the stem and the compact opens.

Comes in a decorative gift box as seen in the fourth photograph.

Compact is in remarkably good condition for a circa 1940s - early 1950s piece. Gold-tone is bright showing no wear. There is a slight scratch on the front near the cross. The compact is missing its powder puff. Mirror is in very good condition. Compact is clean.

Vintage beauty salon display poster shows a pretty strawberry blond with a very modern hairdo from the 1960s. Dressed in business attire and holding what looks to be an accounting ledger, the model has gray-blue eyes edged with black eyeliner.

Meant to be displayed in a hair salon window, the double-sided poster is printed on sturdy coated paper.

The poster was stored rolled up for many years and is in good condition for its age. It shows signs of use and wear. One side (second photo) is slightly faded. There are a few tears and chips as well as some scotch tape residue. A good picture framer could transfer this vintage poster art into an amazing walling hanging for your home or business.

On April 7, 1942 little Daniel Shine ate vegetable soup for the first time. On June 18th he tasted daddy's cigar. On October 21st he dusted all the furniture. This memory book is filled with handwritten phrases and sentences documenting the life of a two-year old boy during 1942.

Entitled "My Calendar of Memory for 1942" & produced by Rust Craft Cards, this diary was given to customers of Morris Silver Stationery & Greeting Cards located in Jersey City, N.J. Daniel's mom managed to write an entry in this small date book on almost every day of the year turning it into an amazing record of a baby's development.

The calendar booklet is in good condition for its age. The stapled binding is intact. The paper cover is split on top down to the first staple. Pages are in very good condition.

Booklet measures 7" x 4".

Renowned for their metal work, Scandinavian designers set the standard for modern mid-century pewter & silver jewelry. Pin this floral brooch onto a black turtleneck sweater for a very modernist look.

The pin is marked "Narke," which is a town in Sweden, as well as the Swedish word for the cowslip flower. The flower on the brooch is clearly a cowslip. Very cool! The pin also has a markers mark "B.T. Sweden" and has the look of a Tennesmed piece.

This lovely pin will come in the gift box shown in photograph 4.

The pin is in good condition. There is a scratch on the back near the makers mark. The pin back shows oxidation. It could be cleaned but I will leave it to you. The very tip of the pin point has a slight curve to it. I'm not sure if this is original or not. The pin works just fine and is very secure.
