This is a very interesting hair curling devise. Designed to be heated over a stove, this vintage hair crimping iron helped women of the Flapper era achieve the signature waved bob coif so popular during the 1920s.

In very good vintage condition, the metal crimping element shows wear and has a nice rust patina. The wooden handles are in excellent shape. This would be a great display piece.

Approximately 9 3/4" long
Crimping plate is 3 1/8" x 2"

This set of four (4) Rorstrand salad or dessert plates are so lovely you might want to hang and display them on a wall instead of using them on your table.

Rörstrand porcelain of Sweden has a long and illustrious history dating back to the 1726.

Designed by Lars Thoren, Flora stoneware plates were produced between 1956 & 1973 in Sweden. Each dish is hand painted with a Swedish flower and bears the Rorstrand hallmark.

Maskros
Rodklover
Tearepris

Groovy stackable pedestal mugs, these circa 1970s yellow, orange & brown cups have a cool retro geometric design sure to brighten up any kitchen.

The cups are in very good condition. They do not have any chips or cracks. There are a few light marks and very minimal paint wear. Mugs are marked "Japan" on the bottom in red.

Fun & funky vintage sheer orange scarf will brighten up your wardrobe. Made in Japan from 100% nylon, this scarf is in very good condition. Tone on tone polka dots add to the retro charm and give the scarf a very modern look.

There is some slight fabric separation but no tears. Laundered and ready for wear. The hand-rolled and stitched hem is is good condition.

The label indicating "made in Japan" and "100% nylon" content had been hanging from a thread and came off the scarf during washing (see 4th photo).

Care: Hand wash gently in cool water with mild soap.

Five (5) vintage photography memory booklets are a nifty way to capture your school days. These keepsake memento photo albums are a simple folded card with cartoon figures depicting the classic school personalties such as "My Favorite Teacher," "The Class Queen," "Big Shot," among others.

The cartoons are so sweet and very retro. Manufactured by National School Studios, Inc, circa1950s, these charming booklets are in great condition for their age. Three of them are smooth card stock and are slightly yellowed. Two of them are textured card stock, are slightly narrower, and have yellowed a bit more.

Great for reunions! Fill them with old graduating portraits and give them as door prizes.

Mounted on red leather and decorated with a gold gilt, this vintage Saint Anthony pocket shrine medal stores safely in its slipcase.

The metal charm depicts St. Anthony holding baby Jesus. The medal is stamped "S. Antonio." The red leather slip case is stamped in Italian "Ovunque Proteggimi" or, "Alway Protect Me" in English.

St. Anthony is the patron saint of lost people and objects.

Condition: The pocket shrine shows wear. The leather is rubbed and nicked in places particularly around the slipcover opening. The medal has a nice patina of age.

Measurements: This is a very small pocket-size religious object. Overall measurements are approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/8".

Vintage Ketcham McDougall Pat Products retractable keychain pin is a nifty old-fashion purse accessory. The key chain device has a pin back which securely attachs to the inside of your purse. You put your keys on the chain holder, & voila, it's always easy to find your keys.

Dating from the late 1950s to early 1960s, Ketcham McDougall "Key Keeper" is in its original box and has never been used.

Pin is marked "Ketcham McDougall, Roseland, N.J. Made in U.S.A."

Catholic nun's pectoral cross, this vintage crucifix is made of ebony wood inlaid in a metal frame. There is a skull & crossbones, the classic memento mori symbol, at the base of the cross.

Marked "Germany," along the side in the metal, the cross is on a faded ribbon that was most likely worn around the neck or on a belt. The cross shows wear. I have not cleaned the piece as I didn't want to wipe away the wonderful patina of age it has acquired over the years. The cross is at least 100 years old.

Measures 3 7/8" x 1 7/8"

This fabulous flamingo pink platonite glass sugar bowl with a gold rim is a bit of a mystery. It's the only Hazel Atlas Ovide piece I've come across in flamingo pink with a gold rim. There are no markings on the piece, but this shape sugar bowl was produced by Hazel Atlas from about 1920 to 1950.

Use it for sugar, condiments, flowers. Fits into any decor.

The piece has a few scratches with a little paint loss, but no chips or cracks.

Some might say sappy, some might say sweet, but there's no denying this vintage Frank Sinatra extended play vinyl 45 rpm record is a treat.

Written by Rogers and Hammerstein for their 1947 musical Allegro, A Fellow Needs a Girl is a simple, old-fashion love song. Originally recorded as a 78 record, I believe this issue dates from the early 1950s. There is no date on the record or sleeve.

This extended play 7" 45 rpm record (Columbia B-9023) also includes Poinciana, For Every Man There's a Woman, & Mean to Me.

Composed by Rodgers and Hammerstein
Orchestra Direction by Axel Stordahl.

Condition: Vinyl appears to be in good condition. There is a scratch on the B side ( For Every Man There's a Woman & Mean To Mean. Record sleeve shows typical wear.

I thought this ouroboros ashtray was so cool when I picked it up in a little Mexican road-side tourist trinket shop on the road between Taxco and Cuernavaca back in the early 1980s. An interesting piece of barrio negro pottery, the ashtray has a coiled snake eating its tail circled around a fragment of the Mayan calendar

The Ouroboros symbol is found in many cultures world wide and generally symbolizes eternal return, self-reflexivity, and the cyclical nature of existence.

Time to let this piece go.

Condition: The ashtray was never used as an ashtray. It is in good condition, but does have a chip on the bottom -- see photograph 3.

Light as meringue, this circa 1960s sheer chiffon vintage scarf has amazing pleating across the entire fabric. The color changes from white in the center to a mere hint of yellow to a deeper yellow at the edges. The combination of color graduation, sheerness, and pleating blend into a very textural and unusual scarf.

In good vintage condition, the flaws do not detract from the grace and glamor of this scarf. The fragile fabric does show wear, there is a small section where the pleating has relaxed, there is some thread separation, but no tears, and two small barely noticeable spots.

There is no tag on the scarf. By the feel of it, it'd say it's nylon.

Bright and cheery in shades of yellow & green, with a dash of dark blue, this vintage crochet afghan is a stunner. Handmade back in the 1970s, the blanket was crocheted with acrylic yarn in a variety of stitch patterns.

Handmade vintage textiles remind me of the continuity between generations. Forty years or so ago, someone took the time to make a blanket for her family. She most likely learned the stitches she used to make the afghan from her mother or grandmother, who learned the stitches from her mother, and on it goes back into history. Crochet is an ancient art and this afghan is a fine 1970s example of that art.

Made from sturdy and warm yarn, this blanket is in excellent vintage condition. No holes, tears or fading.

Measurements: 67" x 44"

The Chain of Command is a humorous satire on the inner workings of army procedure. Told in a light manner and illustrated with cartoons, the story exposes the hilarious and unexpected consequences associated with the attempt to ration toilet paper.

Condition: This is a vintage, first edition copy of the book published in 1945. The dustcover shows wear with chipping and tearing along the edges. Hardcover boards have some spotting and the edges and spine are worn. There is a gift inscription written in ink on the inside from end paper.

Turn up the temperature on your mid-century modern home decor with this vintage Taylor Instrument Co. Stormoguide. The weather station includes a barometer, thermometer, & humidity gauge.

I've been watching the Stormoguide for weeks, and it's been giving fairly accurate data for my location.

Hmm, maybe I should keep it….


Condition: Stormoguide has been giving fairly accurate readings in my home. Note that humidity gauge gives information on the humidity in your home, not outside. The wood casing shows wear and has some nicks and scratches on the veneer. The brass stand shows wear consistent with the age of the piece.

Weather station has a dial on the back for setting the altitude for your location.

An incredible example of crewel embroidery, this vintage needlework piece can be transformed into a wall hanging or pillow.

Worked on a blue linen background with wool thread in a vibrant 1970s flower design, the crewel embroidery is complete and in excellent condition. The linen fabric measuring 28 inches x 13 3/4 inches has a crease line where it had been folded in half and basted with red thread. There is a dry cleaners tag pinned to one corner. Ready for finishing, you can make a pillow cover, frame it for a wall hanging, or use it in another craft project.

The Model Speller, a vintage children's school book, has an amazing decorative cover. The wonderful scenes of children playing at the beach, building a snowman, and fishing, stand out in red against the blue cloth binding.

This 1930s spelling textbook is in good condition for a used schoolbook. The pages are yellowed, and some have rips and tears. There is some soiling. The book is marked "Property of St. Mary's Grammar School, Rutherford, N.J.," and has several student's names written on the front end paper.

This vintage glass carafe pitcher is the perfect vessel for martinis or your favorite summer cocktail. The black & white flower power design add just the right amount of retro flair.

Condition: Pitcher is in good vintage condition. There are 3 small spots on one black flower petal (see photograph 4) and minor fading on several other petals. No cracks. No chips. There are a few stay black paint marks from the manufacturing process (see photograph 5).
