When I stumbled on this charming wooden toy dollhouse piano at an estate sale, I instinctively knew it was something special. A little research uncovered that it is a rare Schneegas Art Nouveau piano circa 1890s.

Handcrafted by the German furniture company Schneegass, the piano has an oak finish and a beautiful floral Art Nouveau panel on the front. The keyboard lid opens revealing 9 painted depressible piano keys.

Considering this miniature toy piano is approximately 125 years old, it's in remarkably good condition. The top piece has separated slightly from one corner of the back base but is not loose or wobbly (see photograph three). The key board cover does not stay up on it's own.

The piano stool shown in photographs 1 & 2 will soon be available in my show as well.

Very cool vintage cardboard cylinders, these industrial containers once held Greenlee Tool Co Radio Chassis Punchs. Made in St. Louis by Sefton, these tool containers have cardboard bodies, metal bottoms, threaded metal tops and metal lids.

The containers are in very good condition. One container is pushed out slightly on the bottom.

Each container has a 2 1/4" diameter and is approximately 3 1/8" tall.

These 4 gold glass Christmas ornament clusters on florist sticks have a total of 12 shiny bright orbs. Use these vintage floral decorations in wreath making, holiday crafts, or for a simple Christmas centerpiece.

Each cluster has 3 glass ornaments.

Condition: Circa 1960s ornaments are in good condition with the usual spotting and paint loss for glass decoration of this age. Several of the balls have lost their sheen and have a very attractive matte finish.

Measurements: 4" long wood picks; Approximately 6" over all cluster length. Glass balls have approximately 1 1/2" diameter.

This 1957 edition of New Jersey's rules of the road is in good condition. The cover has some soiling, a bent corner and a few nicks. The pages show yellowing typical of paperbacks of the era. Includes a self-scoring test and index.

This vintage coal thermostat would be the coolest way keep track of your indoor room temperature. Made from brass colored metal (but I don't think it is brass), and in a classic industrial art decor style, it would look awesome hanging alone or with a group of vintage thermostats and dials. And, a handy person might be able to figure out how to rewire it for modern use. Note the fabulous "K" for Koppers detailing on each side of the piece.

Condition: The thermostat came out of a house that had not been touch since the 1930s. I've cleaned it up a bit so it's not grimy, but you may want to give it a deeper cleaning if you don't care for the aged patina. Thermometer works. There are two wires attached to the back which were cut to take the piece off the wall.

Measurements: Approximately 5" long x 1 3/4" wide x 1 1/4" deep.

A curious piece of American college history, this fraternity and sorority "scrapbook" fan has scraps from various universities and Greek letter societies.

Acquired from the estate of an 103 year-old woman, the scrap fan documents some of the academic institutions, sororities, and fraternities where she socialized during her college years in the 1920s.

This fan is a rare piece of ephemera and is in very good condition. There are several places on the paper fan where scraps have fallen or been torn off. The wood fan sticks are in excellent condition. The fan has a metal loop for hanging.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, ladies would sometimes make scrap fans as mementos of the various places they visited. The few fans I've seen have always had mostly a college university focus.

The fan features a scrap from Simmons College, an all women's college founded in 1899. Scraps include:
Pi Beta Phi - Vermont Academy
Kappa Alpha Fraternity Epsilon Chapter
Theta Epsilon
The University of Maine
Phi Kappa Sigma - Alpha Delta Chapter
University of Vermont
And various other Greek letter scraps

Winter Wonderland of Love

Set in Caslon 471 bold, this vintage typeface font specimen sheet can be framed as a picture, cut for a banner, used in scrapbooking, or other arts & crafts projects.

This loose-leaf letter sample sheet from Comp/Type Inc's 1970 Photo Lettering Photo Composition Catalog is a cool example of a retro typesetting sample dating back to a time when graphic artists actually cut and pasted type fonts on paper.

The reverse side of the sheet has a rather odd phrase "buy a poor person today." Researching the phrase did not yield any clues to its origin or what it might possibly mean.


Measurements: 8 1/2" x 11"

Condition: Loose-leaf sheet is in very good vintage condition.

Ely Culbertson's name is on this vintage canasta playing card shuffler. Who was Ely Culbertson, you ask? He was an extravagant entrepreneurial contact bridge card player in the 1930s with a penchant for showmanship.

Even if you don't use it, this industrial green metal shuffler would look pretty cool on display.

Made by Wallin Foster Associates, Denver, Colorado, circa 1960s.

Condition: Shuffler is in good vintage condition with some wear to the paint and a few scratches. Crank works.

This vintage Russian folk art pysanky Easter egg has lovely flowers painted over a purple background with a vibrant pink design dividing the front and the back portions of the egg. One side of the egg has beautifully drawn tulips and lily of the valley.

Made from a real chicken egg, this pysanky dates from the late 1960s - early 1970s. The inside of the egg was blown out and the egg is very delicate.

Condition: The pysanky is in very good condition. The small holes on each end of the egg (from which the contents were blown out) were covered with tape and painted to blend in with the design.

Vintage fabric in a classic paisley pattern, the vibrant red background enhances the white paisley swirls and polka dots. Although this is a small fabric remnant, the 44" x 48" piece can be used for a variety of sewing and crafts projects.

I bought this fabric with a stack of other remnants at the estate sale of woman who did a lot of sewing back in the late 1950s to early 1970s. She kept her remnant stash well organized and clean. I do not know definitively what type of fiber it is woven from, but it feels like cotton.

This Western Press (W. P. Co) Racine, Wis, vintage playing card deck has a collectible double-ended joker. Cards are marked "Made in U.S.A. W. P. Co., Racine, Wis No. 1885 Champions." The deck is complete with one double joker and is in very good condition. There is some minor wear on the box. Would make a great gift for the dog lover in your life.
