This "Original Art Kerchief" handkerchief is "strictly for show not for blow." "Created, sculpted, and painted by Artists Colony of Greenwich Village, N.Y.C.," this is a rare New York City souvenir handkerchief.

Hand cut in the shape of the map of the United States, the handkerchief has the abbreviations for each state, and "New York City" handwritten across the top. New York State and the island of Manhattan are hand painted orange along with a red star denoting New York City. The handkerchief is outlined in gold.

The fashions and hairstyles on the label date the handkerchief to the 1940s. Could this handkerchief have been an attempt to raise money to pay the rent on the colony's studio space on the south side of Washington Square Park? The colony was evicted from its studio space when its lease expired at the end of 1948. New York University, the property's owner, tore the studio building down and built their law center on the site.

Original label is present but not attached to the handkerchief. There is no fabric content tag. My guess is that it's made from a nylon fabric. The handkerchief is in very good vintage condition. There are a few stray black marks which look to be from the making process. There are a few very small tears near the top on the gold edging. The handkerchief does not have a hem.

Published in 1931, this rare 1st edition copy of Zacharias Topelius's Two Times Two Is Four is packed with striking colored illustrations by Katharine Dewey. Kurrie the squirrel and Jossie the rabbit are charming characters that will delight any reader.

The book is in fair to good condition. Spine is damaged at the top, is chipping and has an old piece of clear tape which has yellowed. Previous owner name and date on inside front endpaper. Binding is beginning to loosen. Pages are clean.

Andre Gide's Les Caves Du Vatican (The Vatican Cellars), a French literature classic and an outstanding example of Modernist fiction, was first published in 1914 about the same time as the outbreak of WW I. Classified as a novel, Gide referred to his work as a "sotie," a form of parody or satirical play dating from the Middle Ages.

Yes, it's in French. And, yes, it contains irony.

This Le Livre de Poche (pocket book) edition published by Galliard is in very good to excellent condition. The spine is so tight, it's possible that this copy has never been read. Why not be the first. And, if you don't want to read it, display it. The cover art is just beautiful.

Antique photograph postcard of a Catholic priest taken in the vicinity of Berlin, Germany in the early 1900s was among a cache of one family's photographs spanning from the 1800s into the 1900s.

The photograph postcard is in fair to good condition. It has noticeable wear around the edges and corners. There are a few soil spots on the image as well as general signs of age.

The photographs appears to be a black and white that has faded to more of a sepia tone.

The photograph postcard was produced by Samson & Co., the Berlin, Germany photography studio that also took other pictures in this family's photographic cache. Documents in the cache indicate that the family's name was Jasick.

Published in 1944, this vintage military booklet gives an interesting insight into the U.S. government's attitude towards China during World War II before the Cold War turned the tide of propaganda against Communism. This is a genuine vintage military pamphlet from 1944 not a reproduction. The booklet shows wear and the passage of time. Vintage globe by Replogle shows the world circa 1933. This is a rare 7-inch diameter globe with a domed "Big Dipper" metal base. With its Art Deco styling and small table-top size, this globe is perfect for display on your desk or office bookshelf.

Although small, the globe has lots of detail including a legend, international date line, tropics of cancer and capricorn, the path of Adm. Bryd's 1929 flight to the South Pole, Lindbergh's 1927 flight, & a selection of radio stations.

Globe is marked "7 Inch Standard Globe Made by Replogle Globes Inc. Chicago, Ill."

Captured in sepia tones, this class of boys stare confidently into the camera with the hint of smiles on their young faces. Taken in Berlin, Germany very early in the 1900s, this photograph is part of a collection from one family's estate spanning from the 1800s into the early part of the 20th century.

Some of the boys are dressed in the classic sailor suit uniform of the time period. Some are wearing lace-up boots. One boy has a watch fob and chain hanging prominently from his coat jacket.

The photograph is in good condition with small chips at the top left corner and bottom right corner. The photo is mounted on heavy card stock which shows wear around the edges and some discoloration from age.

This is a beautiful first edition copy of Stephen Powers's Afoot and Alone; A Walk From Sea to Sea by the Southern Route; Adventures and Observations in Southern California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Etc. This interesting and important rare book chronicles Powers's 3,556 miles walk from Raleigh, North Carolina to San Francisco, California.

Published in 1872 by the Columbian Book Company, this antique book is a rare find. The volume has 30 wood-cut engravings including several by the artist True W. Williams.

This is a solid book in very good condition for its age. The bottom cover corners are bumped and a bit frayed, but over all the cover is in great shape with just some light soiling. The gold gilt cover illustration of a traveller is in very good condition. There are a few brown spots on the title page's protective tissue overlay, some light foxing on pages 314 & 315, and a few spots here and there throughout the book. Binding is tight. Text block is square.

Vintage First Communion prayer book has beautiful color as well as black & white illustrations and is just the right size to fit into your pocket.

The vintage Catholic prayer book has gold gilt title lettering and gold gilt page edging. Published by Benziner Brothers in 1926, the small prayer book is in good condition showing age-appropriate wear. The original recipient of this gift prayer book wrote her name and address on the front endpaper and partially filled in the "This Prayer Book Belongs to" page. The faux leather cover is toned with age and shows soiling and some chipping along the spine.

The title on the cover of the old prayer book is "Girl's Prayer-Book." The title page identifies the book as the "Boys' and Girls' Prayer Book."

This vintage booklet is part of a series of anti-Communist pamphlets distributed by the Catholic Information Society which advertised itself as "The most fearless and factual exposé of Communism ever published."

Without a shred of irony, the vintage pamphlet outlines the Soviet imperialistic "Red Drive" against the colonies of the former imperialistic Europe countries.

Bright and cheerful vintage corn on the cob plate can be used as a serving dish or displayed in your country kitchen.

Vintage from the 1930s, this beautiful hand-painted ceramic plate was made in Japan.

The serving dish is in good condition for its age. There are some tiny black spots on the yellow corn and one area of chipped paint (see photograph 2). There is crazing on the back of the plate.

This vintage hand-turned circular wooden box has a beautiful hand-painted folk art design. The piece is signed "Irvin H. Herbein."

In the mid-20th century, Irvin H. Herbein created many beautiful wood Pennsylvania Dutch folk art pieces, from trinket boxes, to pins, to housewares.

This lovely small trinket box can be used to organize small objects on your desk or dresser.

The small box would also make the perfect container for a special ring.

The piece has a very small imperfection on the inner lip of the box bottom which does not effect the beauty of the piece. The paint shows minimal wear. Please see the photographs for more information about condition.

This cool Replogle 6 inch Gustav Brueckmann simplified globe has a snazzy full red meridian, a time dial at the top, and lots of personality for its small size.

The transfer painted steel orb shows the world as it was just after the conclusion of World War II. Korea is not divided, Indochina has not been renamed Vietnam, French West Africa has not been broken apart, the Belgian Congo exists, as well as Ceylon, and Northern Rhodesia. Chinese place names are shown in the old Wade-Giles romanization.

The metal globe is in very good condition for a used toy from the 1940s. The orb has a few dings and scratches, most notably a small dent on Iran (Persia), some light soiling from age, and general paint wear.

Globe has a six (6) diameter, and overall height of 8 1/2 inches, and a 4 inch base diameter.

In the days before computer generated charts, Dalton's Tables of Houses Spherical Basis of Astrology was (and for some serious astrologers, still is) the definitive reference book for charting horoscopes.

Published in 1975 by Macoy Publishing and Masonic Supplies, Co, Inc., Richmond, Virginia. The book is in very good condition with no underlining or highlighting. Former owner's name written in ink on the back endpaper.

But wait, there's more -- the former owner's astrological reading drawn up in 1978 by the legendary (in astrology circles) Neil Michelsen is included with the book. Michelsen, a former IBM employee, founded Astro Computing Service creating the first computer-generated ephemeris in 1976.
