What Can A Woman Do? or, Her Position in The Business and Literary World by Mrs. M. L. Rayne gave advice to late 19th-century women striving to establish careers outside the home as well women working within the home.

This interesting antique book covers wages, professions in literature, journalism, law, medicine, music, government, enterprise, nursing, raising poultry, beekeeping, housekeeping, and more. The book is filled with beautiful illustrations, and includes poems and prose pieces. The book would make a very special gift for someone interested in women's history.

Published in 1893, the vintage book's elaborate cover is remarkably well preserved. Pages are mostly clean with some very light tanning and some spotting. The page edges show some dust soiling and spotting from age. Overall, this is a clean book in very good condition.

Vintage illustrated copy of the Saint Joseph New Catholic Edition of the Holy Bible includes a family record section for recording births, deaths, & marriages, as well as reading guides, historical, chronological & Bible names indexes, and color maps. The vintage Catholic Bible also has decorative endpapers with the ten commandments at the front and the beatitudes at the back, and gold gilt page edges and title lettering.

Published in 1962, this is a genuine vintage Bible not a recent reprint. The Bible shows wear consistent with its age. There is some separation at the front hinge on the decorative presentation page (see photograph four), but the binding is tight. Pages are clean.

These vintage wood building blocks have alphabet letters as well as pictures including owls, ships, a mouse, a pony, a chick, bears, a bicycle, and more. The colorful vintage wooden blocks would make a fun decor display in any room, from a child's nursery to an executive office.

These are genuine circa 1940s wooden toy blocks. They were used in their time and show age appropriate wear and soiling from play and the passage of time.

Lot includes 14 vintage building blocks. Each block has grooved lines on two sides for interlocking into place.

First published in 1909, Games for Playground, Home, School, and Gymnasium written by Jessie H. Bancroft, Assistant Director of Physical Training in The New York Public Schools, gives an interesting insight into the era before electronic games and the Internet when children spent time out doors playing a wide variety of games.

The volume has a beautiful decorative cover suitable for decor and can be displayed in a child's room, nursery or game room.

The book is in very good condition. It comes with its original paper dust jacket which although torn at the top, has protected the decorative cover and binding. The binding is tight and the pages are clean. The front right-hand side endpaper has an ink stamped name of a previous owner, "Wm. L Buchner."

Included with the book are two typed sheet of bible study questions and ten small hand-written slips of paper with biblical names on them.

The book covers games for each age and grade level, brief historical information, how to select teams and who is "it," singing games, ball games, active games, quiet games, camp games, and more. The book is filled with line drawing illustrations and diagrams as well as photographs.

These vintage Jesus, Mary & Joseph figures would make a great nativity scene starter set. The plaster cast high-quality figurines are beautifully rendered with nice detailing. These are the larger size nativity with Joseph measuring 7" tall.

As these are genuine vintage, expect the nativity figures to show signs of age. Mary has a small chip on her hair. Joseph has some dark spots on his robe and a chip near the base. He has his original wire staff.

The Christmas figurines are marked "Italy" on the bottom.

Vintage playing cards made by Modiano for Italia Societa di Navigazione (Italian Line) come in their original box with a stylized art deco deer on one side and ocean liners on the other.

The bridge deck has 54 cards total including two jokers.

The cards, made of "siliconi" plastic are in good condition, but it is obvious this deck was used in play perhaps on one of the decks of an Italian Line ship. The gold gilt on the edges is almost completely worn away and the cards show typical wear, although they remain fairly crisp. The packaging box shows wear including worn corners, a few tears, and light soiling.

This is a scarce vintage card deck with a great art deco look.

From artist Margo Alexander of California Sophistical Provincials collection, these circa 1950s framed silhouette pictures are in their original round wood frames with their original labels on the back.

The silhouette print set feature profile portraits of a American colonial era man and woman. The vintage artwork and wood frames are in good condition for their age showing a nice patina. The wooden frames have some nicks and scratches as shown in the photographs. The paper on the back of the wooden frames has deteriorated but the original art labels are intact. Silhouette artwork is protected by glass. One of the framed prints has its original wire hanger.

The label on the back of each vintage silhouette print states:

"Widely recognized for the dash and color of her original paintings and murals, this popular Western artist strove to develop a hand-reproduced technique retaining all the piquant spontaneity of her prized originals. This, with the support of her associates, Ann Bode, and a talented staff, in the seclusion of her tree-covered old-world studio, she has achieved and proudly presents herewith her original hand-replica of DA 1095-1100."

Vintage lot of calligraphy nib holders can be displayed or used to write old-fashioned lettering.

Two of the nib holders are marked "Esterbrook #35 Made in U.S.A." These vintage calligraphy pen nib holders are made from wood and have a heavy coating of black lacquer. One of these lettering pens comes with a Hunt Artist nib.

The third nib holder is marked "Speedball." It is molded from plastic and comes with a Joseph Gillott's 404 nib.

The vintage calligraphy pen nib holders and the nibs are used and show wear with some nicks to the lacquer and dried ink on the nib tips.

Esterbrook nib holders are approximately 5 1/8" long without a nib.
The Speedball nib holder is approximately 7" long without a nib.

This vintage pencil lot features a wide array of quality writing and drawing tools including five Eagle Pencil Company Diagraph 817 No 2 pencils, three Dixon Thinex colored pencils, a Kor-i-Noor Flixicolor, an A.W. Faber "Castell" 2H and an Eagle Verithin all housed in a vintage Dixon Ticonderoga pencil box.

All twelve vintage pencils have been sharped and are in overall good condition. The pencils in the vintage lot range from 5 1/4" to almost 7 1/2" inches (the Eagle Diagraphs). The vintage Dixon Ticonderoga cardboard pencil box shows typical wear with some paper loss at the corners.

Miniature and delicate vintage Kutani era ceramic pitcher has a beautiful hand painted flower design with a bird in flight. The decorative vintage pitcher would make a charming decor accent in a Japanese or Asian themed room.

The small pitcher is old and shows age appropriate signs of wear yet is in good condition with no chips and no cracks. There is a very very faint remnant of a maker's mark on the bottom of the pitcher.

One box of antique Bay State Thread Works Seamsew thread would be a fabulous find. Finding two boxes of this rare vintage thread is beyond awesome.

In amazing condition for their age, the boxes are in beautiful condition with some small tears on the top box lids. Made by the Bay State Thread Works in Springfield, Massachusetts, the vintage black thread is unused and complete on their wooden spools. The spool labels are a bright red. The boxes have a wonderful graphic of "Susanna Seamsew" at her sewing machine while a little girl holding a doll observes her as she sews. Each box has a price (5¢) lightly marked in pencil on the top.

The thread box carton is designed to fit directly onto a sewing machine spindle.

Genuine vintage movie handbill flyer for Warner Bros's 1945 World War II romance Too Young to Know featuring Joan Leslie and Robert Hutton is a charming piece of old movie memorabilia. Suitable for framing, the old lithograph flyer can be used as decor in a retro-themed movie theater or home movie room.

The vintage lithograph flyer is back printed with ads for movie theaters and films including:

Printed on heavy-weight newsprint paper, the flyer is in good condition for its age showing typical wear around the edges. The flyer has two punch holes along on the right side indicating that it was once stored in a binder.

This is an original movie handbill, not a reproduction. The flyer is marked in very fine print at the bottom "Continental Litho Corp Cleveland Ohio Made in U.S.A," along with credits for the movie, and "A Warner Bros. First National Picture."

Measures approximately 11 1/2 inches by 8 3/4 inches.

These are genuine vintage toys from the late 1960s - early 1970s. They were played with in their time and show typical wear including scuffs, dings, and paint loss.
