An interesting read for any serious student of the brain or history of science, Swedenborg's groundbreaking medical philosophy book explores the connections between the human brain and soul.
Published posthumously from Swedenborg's extensive scientific writings on the human brain, the work was edited and translated by Rudolf L. Tafel in two volumes in 1882 and 1887. This is the second volume published in 1887 covering the pituitary gland, cerebellum, and medulla oblongata.
This rare book was part of the estate of a medical doctor and shows considerable wear. There is a stain on the front cover and damage on the back cover as shown in the photographs, as well as wear to the corners. Webbing is exposed on the back hinge, but the hinge is holding and the binding is tight. Pages are toned with age. Previous owner wrote his name twice at the front of the book.
The book has gold title letter and a wonderful gold gilt portrait of Emanuel Swedenborg on the cover.
