Course in Modern Production Methods is a six-volume set of factory and employee management instruction published in 1918. This comprehensive work gives an interesting glimpse into American industrial business practices. The books are filled with illustrations, photographs, & charts.

The vintage book set is bound in black cloth and is in very good condition for its age. Paper is tanned with age. Volume one has a self-examination test section which has been filled in, presumable by Carl Schwellenberg of Clifton, NJ. Three mailing labels addressed to Mr. Schwellenberg from the Business Training Corporation are included with the books. The first volume also has its original eye test chart.

Designed by Dutch artist Emil Hotz, green leaves growing out of barbed wire symbolize new beginnings after the devastation of World War 2. A winning entry in the European Recovery Program (ERP) Marshall Plan's Intra-European Cooperation for a Better Standard of Living 1950 poster contest, this is a genuine piece of Cold War era political propaganda.

The ERP or Marshall Plan (1948 - 1951), conceived by George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff during WW II & Truman's Secretary of State, aimed to politically stabilize & rebuild the economies of war-torn European countries while hindering the spread of Communism.

A panel of graphic artists selected 25 winning posters from over 10,000 entries. The posters are graphically stunning pieces of political propaganda and historically interesting bits of ephemera from the early Cold War era.

This is an original lithograph not a reproduction. The poster is in remarkable condition for its age. It was part of the estate of a graphic artist who collected all 25 winning posters in the Marshall Plan poster contest. The posters were all stored flat in a drawer in a climate-controled studio. The poster shows some wear around the edges with very small tears, but no paper loss. The colors are vibrant. I have encased the poster in a removable archival sleeve (acid free Krystal Seal).

Classic green antique seltzer bottle has Victoria Bottling Co New York on the glass and part of an Excelsior Beverages, Newark, N.J. paper label. The metal siphon cap is engraved "Excelsior Bev. Inc. 14."

The glass seltzer bottle is in good condition, but as it is genuine vintage, it does show wear. I did not remove the metal siphon cap. The interior of the bottle has condensation. The siphon straw is present. Bottom of the bottle is marked "137" &"M-14," as well as "21" at the base which is barely noticeable.

This antique miniature teapot is a tiny gem of cloisonné art. The white cherry blossoms pop against the black background which is also known as noir cloisonné.

The small Japanese teapot has lovely green cloisonné detailing around the rim of the pot, lid rim, and along the handle, as well as green and blue detailing at the base of the pot.

The teapot is in very good antique condition showing typical wear for a 100-plus year old decorative item.

Teapot measures approximately 4" including spout & handle x 3" including lid X 2 3/4".

An Attempt to Discriminate the Styles of Architecture in England from the Conquest to the Reformation: With a Sketch of the Grecian and Roman Orders by Thomas Rickman (1776–1841) is a substantial and important architectural reference book. The book is also known as "Rickman's Gothic Architecture."

Beginning with a overview of Roman and Greek influences, Rickman goes on to detail English architecture from the time of the Norman Conquest (1066) to English Reformation (1547). Richly illustrated with detailed drawings and engraved plates, the book is a delight to see and read. Rickman was a successful architect of Anglican churches and an authority on Gothic architecture.

This is the sixth edition of the book published in 1862 "with considerable additions, chiefly historical, by John Henry Parker, F.S.A." The antique book is in its original quarter leather binding. The binding is tight and the leather is in good condition with typical wear at the edges and corners. The decorative binding has gold detailing and lettering on the spine. The front cover cloth shows wear (see photograph three). There is soiling on the page edges at the top right corner. Paper is yellowing consistent with age of the book. Former owner's name and address written in pencil in front of book.

Bring your laboratory glass collection to the next level with these cool vintage hydrometers. Made to measure the specific gravity of liquids, these vintage chemistry measuring devices make a quirky and unique bouquet.

The specific gravity scales are in good condition and date from at least the 1950s and perhaps earlier. Each meter is made from lab glass weighted with a heavy substance (most likely lead shot) and has a rolled paper strip number gauge. The some of the gauges appear to be hand numbered. All but one meter is marked made in "U.S.A." on the paper strip.

Hydrometers measure from approximately 6 1/4 inches to about 7 inches long. The battery meter is approximately 4 3/4 inches long.

Lot includes eight (8) meters.

Vintage Pyrex beaker (250 ml) is included with the lot. The lot also includes glass battery charge meter.

Small and sturdy metal storage box found in a lot of antique and vintage medical items has a cool industrial look. The vintage metal box snaps securely shut and has three small compartments that can be used to store small trinkets.

The industrial metal container is painted a mustard yellow with red lettering in German. The interior is a painted deep burgundy red. The vintage metal box displays well. The color combination makes the box an attractive decor accent.

This is a genuine vintage metal storage container once used for medical supplies. It shows signs of age and use including dings, scratches, and some paint loss.

Published in 1947, this early Cold War era pamphlet is an interesting political history document. This vintage booklet is part of a series of anti-Communist pamphlets distributed by the Catholic Information Society which advertised itself as "The most fearless and factual exposé of Communism ever published."

Without a shred of irony, the vintage pamphlet outlines the Soviet imperialistic "Red Drive" against the colonies of the former imperialistic Europe countries.

Bright and cheerful vintage corn on the cob plate can be used as a serving dish or displayed in your country kitchen.

Vintage from the 1930s, this beautiful hand-painted ceramic plate was made in Japan.

The serving dish is in good condition for its age. There are some tiny black spots on the yellow corn and one area of chipped paint (see photograph 2). There is crazing on the back of the plate.

Billowing smokestacks make a bold statement in this political propaganda poster from Cold War era Europe. An entry in the Intra-European Cooperation for a Better Standard of Living 1950 poster contest sponsored by the European Recovery Program (ERP), or more popularly known as The Marshall Plan, this entry by Dutch artist Louis Emmerick won a 5th place prize.

With a theme of "internationalism and cooperation," the ERP poster contest drew 10,000 entries from 12 countries. Twenty five (25) winning posters were selected by a panel of 12 graphics artists, one judge from each of the 12 countries supported by The Marshall Plan. The posters are graphically stunning pieces of political propaganda and historically interesting bits of ephemera from the early Cold War era.

In addition to its bold industrial graphics, this poster is interesting for its English tagline. The poster is in excellent vintage condition with just some minor wear at around the edges.

This cool Replogle 6 inch Gustav Brueckmann simplified globe has a snazzy full red meridian, a time dial at the top, and lots of personality for its small size.

The transfer painted steel orb shows the world as it was just after the conclusion of World War II. Korea is not divided, Indochina has not been renamed Vietnam, French West Africa has not been broken apart, the Belgian Congo exists, as well as Ceylon, and Northern Rhodesia. Chinese place names are shown in the old Wade-Giles romanization.

The metal globe is in very good condition for a used toy from the 1940s. The orb has a few dings and scratches, most notably a small dent on Iran (Persia), some light soiling from age, and general paint wear.

Globe has a six (6) diameter, and overall height of 8 1/2 inches, and a 4 inch base diameter.

This vintage hand-turned circular wooden box has a beautiful hand-painted folk art design. The piece is signed "Irvin H. Herbein."

In the mid-20th century, Irvin H. Herbein created many beautiful wood Pennsylvania Dutch folk art pieces, from trinket boxes, to pins, to housewares.

This lovely small trinket box can be used to organize small objects on your desk or dresser.

The small box would also make the perfect container for a special ring.

A volume in the Cambridge Elementary Classics series, this antique Latin book contains Cornelius Nepos's biographies of Lysander, Alcibiades, Thraybulus, Conon, Dion, Iphicrates, and Chabrias.

The vintage school textbook was designed to be read and used along with a Latin grammar. The book includes an overview of the ancient Greek history covered in the text and a vocabulary of Latin words at the back.

This vintage Inarco planter has a cool mid-century modern look with a brown textured finish similar to West German fat lava. The small vintage pottery planter is meant for indoor use and would look terrific on display with the houseplant of your choice.
