This antique veterinarian book has a beautiful decorative cover worthy of display with a gold gilt dog and title lettering and images of deer, a horse, goat, sheep, dog, fox, and rabbits around the cover boarder.

The antique book is filled with interesting information on caring for dogs, beginning with an introduction covering modes of administering medicines, exercise, and feeding and continuing on with an alphabetically arranged section on diseases and accidents. The book includes an index to prescriptions mentioned in the text, a list of additional books on dogs as well as a list of practical handbooks published by L. Upcott Gill on such varied subjects as angling, organizing bazaars and fancy fairs, raising cacti, card tricks, fancy mice, seaside watering places, and ventriloquism.

The book also has advertising for various dog related items and services including an advertisement for canine surgery, dog medicines, and Spratt's Dog Cakes.

Published in the late 1800s, the book is in good condition for its age. The cover illustrations are in marvelous condition. The cover shows wear at the corner edges and has some spots and light soiling. Pages are tanned from age with light foxing on a few pages at the front and back.

Vintage group of turned wood finials can be used as furniture parts in a new project, in a restoration project, or simply displayed for their interesting urn-like shapes.

The lot includes two different wooden finial styles, four of one type, and one slightly taller and rounded. These are antique reclaimed pieces of wood salvaged long ago from pieces of furniture. The finials are made of hand-turned hard wood and show wear including some scuffs, dings and scratches.

The four smaller finials are 3 1/2 inches tall with a 1 1/4 inch base diameter.
The taller finial is 4 inches tall with a 1 5/8 inch base diameter.

Written by Carla Greene and illustrated by Katherine Evans, this child's career book is part of a series published in the late 1950s and early 1960s by the Children's Press. The yellow cloth binding has blue graphics of children dressed in the clothing for various careers, such as a fireman, doctor, teacher, cowboy, seamstress, baker, and football player.

Book is in good condition for a 50+ year-old children's book that was used in a public school system. The cloth binding is fraying at the edges and has worn away completely at the top and base of the spine. Binding is tight. Pages are clean. Book has a date (May 29, 1961) and Cedar Grove, N.J. Board of Education stamp on the front right-hand side endpaper.

This leather-bound Catholic prayer book, I Pray the Mass, was given as a gift in 1947 to Diane from her parents. The lovely little prayer book has gold-gilt page edges and endpaper decorations, three attached ribbon bookmarks, red letter title headings, and beautiful illustrations.

A funeral card from the Spatola Funeral Home in Newark, N.J. marking the death of Angelina Cetrulo on January 29, 1949 is taped on the the front right-hand side endpaper.

The small Catholic mass prayer book is in good condition with personalizations as noted above. The title page is torn (see photograph 3). The ribbon bookmarks are fraying at the ends. Pages are clean. Binding is tight.

Not a recent reprint, this is a genuine first edition copy of Sick in Bed With Stocks. The book was read and carefully examined showing signs of wear and age including some pencil notations, dog-earred pages, bumped corners and wear at the top and base of the spine. The book's pages are tanned with age. Paste down publisher's correction on page 25. Overall, a good sound copy of a rare title on the stock market. Binding is tight.

New old stock Bridge for One pop-up playing card games by Milton C. Work, The International Authority, are a rare find. Each set of four (4) folded paper game sheets gives instructions on how to play bridge in three ways -- quoting from the back the game's description:

(a) As a contest with any number participating
(b) As a solitaire to test your own ability
(c) As a solitaire for educational purposes

Dating from the early 1930s, these games sheets were stashed away for many years and are in unused condition. Some of them showing soiling and creasing from storage, the paper is tanning from age, but they are so cool, and useable. Give them away as party favors at your next bridge game.

Each set contains four (4) game packets. Fourteen (14) packets are available.

Antique circa 1919 Ross of London War Department Pattern 373B brass telescope has a lovely patina of age and would make a fun decor element in a nautical themed room or man cave.

The vintage spyglass does not work and is being sold as a display piece. The brass has a deep patina along with some dings and scratches. You can see light through the telescope but it does not focus. The objective lens is cloudy and dirty. It's obvious that the antique spyglass was not stored properly over time.

The telescope is marked Pattern 373B Ross London and has serial No. 87940 which according to Wilkinson and Glanfield's A Lens Collector's Vade Mecum the piece dates to approximately 1919.

Back in the 1950s a young child colored pages in this William Boyd Star of Hopalong Cassidy Gives a Helping Hand A Book To Color, now you can own this TV Western collectible. Color in the rest of the book, display the cool cover in your office, or frame the cover and pages and use it as home decor in a child's room.

The small-format vintage coloring book dates from the 1950s. The cover is bright and in good condition, and has the same graphic on the front and the back. Printed on cheap paper, the pages of the coloring book are tanned with age. Approximately half the book has been colored in.

Antique photograph postcard of a Catholic priest taken in the vicinity of Berlin, Germany in the early 1900s was among a cache of one family's photographs spanning from the 1800s into the 1900s. There is no indication if this young priest was a relative, although there is a resemblance between this man and a woman who appears to be the family matriarch.

The photograph postcard is in fair to good condition. It has noticeable wear around the edges and corners. There are a few soil spots on the image as well as general signs of age.

The photographs appears to be a black and white that has faded to more of a sepia tone.

The photograph postcard was produced by Samson & Co., the Berlin, Germany photography studio that also took other pictures in this family's photographic cache. Documents in the cache indicate that the family's name was Jasick.

Night Haunts of Paris by Roland Vane (pseudonym of Ernest L. McKeag) is just what you would expect from a pulp fiction novel from the early 1950s. Written in an expose style (pun intended), the back cover informs that "These exposures may shock you; they will certainly thrill you and hold your interest until the very last line."

Picked up at an estate sale, I just couldn't resist the title and cover. The slim work of pulp fiction came in a protective plastic wrapper which I will send along with the book. The wrapper has two stickers on it, one says "Night Haunts," and the other "Heade GGA Cover," referring to cover art by Reginald Heade. GGA is an an acronym for "good girl art," a pulp fiction art style term coined by the American Comic Book Company for cover art depicting sexy women in improbable poses.

Pulp fiction by definition refers to books printed on cheap pulp paper which ages quickly. The book is in good condition with typical tanned paper. The cover graphic is bright but has a chip off the edge and some soiling. There is sticker residue from a price tag and light soiling on the cover.

Vintage globe by Replogle shows the world circa 1933. This is a rare 7-inch diameter globe with a domed "Big Dipper" metal base. With its Art Deco styling and small table-top size, this globe is perfect for display on your desk or office bookshelf.

Although small, the globe has lots of detail including a legend, international date line, tropics of cancer and capricorn, the path of Adm. Bryd's 1929 flight to the South Pole, Lindbergh's 1927 flight, & a selection of radio stations.

Globe is marked "7 Inch Standard Globe Made by Replogle Globes Inc. Chicago, Ill."

Magical Deceptions by Charles Crayford, aka The Kentish Mystic, has a great graphic cover, numerous illustrations, and clear instructions on how to perform magic tricks. This sort after vintage magic book would make a great gift for the collector or budding magician.

This is an original pamphlet from the 1940s not a recent reprint. The booklet has a stapled binding. The staples are rusted, there are some rust spots on pages, and the cover has broken away. No pages are missing. The cover is soiled and shows wear around the edges with some creasing at the corners.

Standing proudly on a chair, this young child with her white hair bow and bold polka dot dress appears to be enjoying her photography portrait session. This triplet set of antique carte de visite come from the estate of an old German woman whose family carried an amazing cache of photographs with them when they immigrated to America in the early 1900s.

Compare the face of the young child in this photograph with that of the girl with the big white bow in her hair and striped dress in the following photograph.

This vintage Catholic pamphlet, How To Go To Heaven Without Dignity by F. M. Lee, lays out the distinction between living only for worldly concerns and leading a spiritual life. The things that bring dignity to a materialistic existence are not the things that will get one into heaven.

Religious pamphlet is in good condition for its age. There is a slight crease on lower right-hand-side cover edge, and a few bumps and dings. Pages are clean. Paper shows slight aging but is supple. Back cover has some damage on the lower left-hand-side which might be from the printing process -- a small area does not have a smooth finish like the rest of the cover.

Christmas Scotch tape in round dispensers lithographed with the classic Scotch Brand tartan plaid would be cool additions to any holiday display.

The dispensers are marked "Minnesota Mining Co." which eventually came to be known as 3M.

Each dispenser is approximately 1/2" in diameter.

The dispensers are in excellent shape. It's amazing that after approximately 60 years, the tape remains sticky to the touch, although it does not hold well. The dispensers are for display as the tape integrity has degraded over the years.
