A copy of T.S. Eliot's The Idea of a Christian Society is a must-have for any serious collector of Eliot's work.

Based on a series of three lectures delivered by T.S. Eliot in March 1939 at Corpus Christi College, this is the first American edition of The Idea of a Christian Society published in 1940.

The book is in good condition. Endpapers and pages lightly tanned from age. Wear at top and base of spine and at the edges. Dust jacket is chipped with some paper loss and has a sunned spine. Some light underlining in pencil.

Litho metal world globe pencil sharpener, this 1950s vintage toy is functional and fun. Made for school children, the vintage globe gives a simplified view of the world for quick reference. The tin mini globe is set into a yellow half meridian on a bright red base.

The metal globe is not quite a perfect sphere and looks as though it was manufactured that way. The vintage pencil sharpener works and shows age appropriate wear including dings, scratches, and minor paint loss. The globe is marked "A & W Products Co, Inc." and "Made in U.S.A."

Colorful vintage world globe attributed to J. Chein, the tin toy maker, has a full meridian with degree marks, a time dial at the top, and a base indicating the seasons, months, and the zodiac signs. The vintage globe shows the path of the Graf Zeppelin flight of 1929, and has mileage indicators along major trade routes.

This scarce metal globe dates from the early 1930s. The lithograph colors are bright. The globe is in good condition showing age appropriate wear including dings, scratches and some paint loss. There are two dents in the globe, a small one in the Pacific Ocean and a larger one (best seen in photograph five on the right-hand side) below Japan.

The toy globe has a 7 inch diameter, and is 9 inches wide including the meridian. The small globe stands approximately 12 inches tall including the meridian.

This beautiful little pray book, Key of Heaven, has a black leather cover, a metal inset crucifix on the inside cover, and attached black ribbon bookmark. The miniature prayer book would make a wonderful gift for a devout Catholic or a special first holy communion gift. The book's pages are edged with gold.

The book is in good vintage condition showing typical wear and patina of age for a book published in the 1920s. The spine is slightly worn at the top and at the base, the front & back covers show light soiling. The binding is tight. Note that the title page and facing illustration are stuck together along the binding edge (photograph 3).

Initially turned down by several publishers, A.E. Housman's A Shropshire Lad went on to become one of the most beloved collections of poetry during the 20th century. The small volume of sixty-three poems speak of youth, love, early death, nature, and the disappearing rural way of life. The poetry book was carried in the pockets of soldiers during World War I, given as gifts to young men, was the subject of school classroom recitation... "When I was one-and-twenty I heard a wide man say...."

This vintage volume of the classic poems is simply bound in brown cloth with gold title lettering on the cover and spine. The small book fits easily in the hand or pocket.

The book is in good condition. Some light soiling on the cover, wear at the top and bottom of the spine and the cover edges. The endpapers and book pages are slightly tanned with age lending a nostalgic tone to the book.

Written by Carla Greene and illustrated by Katherine Evans, this child's career book is part of a series published in the late 1950s and early 1960s by the Children's Press. The green cloth binding has black lettering & yellow graphics of children dressed in the clothing for various careers, such as a fireman, doctor, teacher, cowboy, seamstress, baker, and football player.

Book is in good condition for a 50+ year-old children's book that was used in a public school system. The cloth binding is fraying at the edges and has worn away completely at the top and base of the spine. Binding is tight. Pages are clean. Book has a date (May 29, 1961) and Cedar Grove, N.J. Board of Education stamp on the front right-hand side endpaper.
