Beautiful set of five (5) black lacquer nesting boxes, these Chinese boxes have gold speckled interiors and hand painted dragons on the lids. The largest box has two dragons -- one in the sky and one in the waves.

The boxes are old, yet in lovely condition. The boxes show typical wear including a few chips around the box edges, a few dings, and light scratches. The lid of the second largest box has a crack.

The largest box has a hand painted makers mark on the bottom as well as its original paper "Made in China" label.

Art Deco era Opalex glass ashtrays bear the marks of the French Line Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, or Cie Cle for short. Taken from a French Line cruise ship, these cool vintage ashtrays date back the 1930s and the age of international ocean liner travel.

Stashed away for years, the green and pink colors are great, and the paint transfer lettering is in good condition showing only minor wear.

Beautifully covered in floral upholstery fabric, this vintage lace making bolster for making pillow lace is set into a wood cabinet. The bolster is on a spindle that can be locked into place by tightening the knobs on either side of it. The front of the wood cabinet is also upholstered, and is criss crossed with high-quality gimp trim under which you can tuck your working lace bobbins to keep them from tangling.

The bolster wheel has a bit of lace work in progress that someone abandoned long ago. The work is pinned securely to the bolster with metal lace making pins along with an old lace pattern. Someone cut the pillow lace bobbins from the lace work and stashed them in the cabinet draw. There are 38 bobbins, most of which are 4 inches long. Two bobbins are 4 3/4 inches long. Most of the bobbins are threaded, and four bobbins are still attached to a small lace scrap.

This wonderful vintage lace making kit came out of the estate of a family that owned a textile mill in Paterson, N.J. The kit has a gift card taped to the back,"From Mildred Mrs. Hollis W. Afield," along with the notations, "Koeppel = bobbin," and "Spitce = Point Lace (German). I was told that the cabinet dates from the 1940s - 1950s, but that the wood bobbins are much older.

The cabinet is marked Barcelona along with some numerals and other notations on the bottom as well as inside the drawer.

This is an old vintage lacemaking pillow cabinet. It was used and enjoyed in its time. The cabinet has a lovely patina and shows signs of age and use. The cabinet has scratches & dings. The upholstery fabric is in good condition. The cabinet drawer is missing its pull which can easily be fitted with one of your liking.

Cabinet measures approximately 10 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall by 10 inches deep.

Antique skittle nine pins game has a primitive look and a wonderful patina of age. Display this awesome vintage game in your office, workshop, or studio for a cool look. And, you can play a game at lunchtime!

This is a very old wooden bowling pin game from the early 20th century. It was played with and enjoyed in its time, but has lots of life left. The small game pins have a handmade look and painted red stripes. The palm-size bowling balls have one small flat area which allow the balls to sit on a table top without rolling away.

The skittle pins stand approximately 6 3/4" tall.

Vintage Gossard Loungeware hostess caftan gown, this retro 1960s maxi-length house dress is a stunner. Take a close look at the fabric. Vibrant squares of yellow, orange, green, turquoise & white form an amazing geometric pattern across the fabric.

The dress has a coordinating orange zipper that zips up the front, pockets on the side seams, and front darts.

These tools are in good condition and show varying degrees of use and rust. I do not believe they are useable, and I'm selling them as vintage collectibles. I have not cleaned or polished them. They come straight from an old doctor's bag circa 1950s - 1960s.

Back in the 1890s, Weaving Calculations was an essential reference book for textile mills throughout the Great Britain and the United States. This copy belonged to the Frank E. Gallant, the founder of a ribbon textile mill in Paterson, N.J.

This is a genuine antique book published in 1893, not a recent reprint. The book was used in its time by a miller owner and contains the previous owner's notations and calculations, as well as his signature and the date "1898" on the front endpaper. The book is worn on the spine with some splitting and fraying. The front hinge is cracking. There are no loose pages.

The book has an interesting advertising section in the back for various textile related services.

Vintage Eldorado 17 jewel purse watch has a cool sliding case design. Initially patented in France in 1930, this sliding case design was the hallmark of the Movado Ermeto purse watch which was copied by several high-end German & Swiss watch factories. Obviously, this "Eldorado" branded watch is one of those knock offs.

Designed as a travel watch that could be carried in your purse or pocket, the case has a built in easel stand that slides out so the watch can sit upright on a table or desk. The watch is stem set and wound. It has a sweeping red-tipped arrow second hand. It has a jump ring loop for a chain. The case opens by gently pulling the two sides apart. The case covering appears to be leather.

The watch is marked "Made in Germany" along with two U.S. patent numbers. The patent numbers date the watch to the 1950s.

The watch is in working condition and keeps fairly accurate time. After running for three hours, the watch gained one minute.

The watch's gold tone metal casing shows wear particularly around the wind-up stem. The case exterior shows wear. Please see the photographs for more information about condition. I'd be happy to send you additional photographs of this classic timepiece.

Watch measures 2 1/4" closed & 3" open. The case is 1 1/2" wide. The watch face is approximately 1 1/8" square. Case is approximately 3/8" deep at its widest point.

This very early piece of Higgins glass is a wonderful example of their fused and molded glass technique. The small ashtray or dish has a classic mid-century design, shape & color combination -- black, brown, sea foam green & gold color combination.

Initially created as an ashtray, you can use this small Higgins piece as intended (which I would not recommend -- bad for you and the art object), as a dish, or as part of an art glass display.

Founded in 1948, Frances & Michael Higgins began producing their now famous art glass in their Chicago apartment with kilns set up behind their sofa. Using the ancient art of glass fusing, the Higgins created the quintessential art glass of the Mid-Century Modern era.

This piece has an etched "Higgins" signature and dates to 1948 to the early 1950s. The dish is in very good vintage condition.

Approximately 5 3/4" at its longest point & 4 1/2" at its widest point.

From its bright yellow cover and orange spiral binding, to the collection of traditional Jewish recipes, and adaptions of popular 1960s American and ethnic recipes, this vintage cookbook is a winner.

Clearly written and cheerfully illustrated, this vintage community cookbook from the Theodor Herzl Hadassah of Camden, N.J., first published in 1968, boasts having sold 2,000 copies as it went into its fifth printing. Each recipe is attributed to a member of the Hadassah.


The cookbook is in very good vintage condition. The cover is bright but does have some light soiling, as do a few of the recipe pages. Two pages (as shown in photograph 4) have some underlining.

Alleluia!

Rainbow-colored enamel alleluia pendant made by Terra Sancta Guild Israel harkens back to the age of aquarius and folk rock masses. A fabulous piece of religious jewelry, the piece is heavy and of very high quality.

The pendant necklace is on a silky navy blue cord that ties around the neck. Dating from the late 1960s - early 1970s, the pendant is in excellent vintage condition. I don't think it was ever worn. Pendant is hallmarked on the back "Terra Sancta Guild Israel Phila" along with a copyright symbol.

Pendant comes in a gift box ready for giving.

Children Love Wonder Books!

Wonder Books with washable covers were mainstay reading for the baby boomer generation. They were found in schools, doctor and dentist offices, libraries, and local bookshops. This marvelous vintage store display sign advertises Wonder Books at their 1950s price -- a mere 25 cents per title.

This genuine vintage sign is perfect for any decor, hang it in the nursery, child's room, office, man cave, or library.

Constructed out of rigid pressboard, the sign is in good vintage condition. It has some nicks, mostly around the edges, a few scratches, and soiling from hanging in a book shop, and then being in storage for many years.

Sign measures 22 inches long x 6 inches high.

Three (3) volumes from the prestigeous Bibliothèque de la Pléiade series of books, this decorative set of books includes the complete works of Pascal, Corneille, La Rochefoucauld. Mais qui, les livres sont en Français. This is a terrific starter collection for your library.

Created in the 1931 by Jacques Schiffrins, who later went on to found Pantheon Books, Bibliothèque de la Pléiade volumes are high-quality books with a slightly larger than pocket-size format. Each book in the set is bound in leather, has gold gilt lettering and spine decorations, a clear plastic dust jacket and is printed on Bible paper -- a thin grade of wood-free uncoated paper often used for Bibles containing cotton or linen fibers which increases the paper's durability without adding bulk. The books were published by Gallimard and printed in France.

The red leather bindings are in very good condition. Each volume has two attached red ribbon book marks. Some minor soiling on pages edges, most notably on the top page edges of the Pascal volume. The top edge pages of Corneille & La Rochefoucauld are tinted gray. The Pascal volume is illustrated. The clear plastic dust covers show shelf wear around the edges, most noticeably at the top of the spines. There is a small tear on the plastic dust cover at the top front of the La Rochefoucauld volume. There is some rubbing at bottom edges of the book. Over all, this collection is very good condition.

Salvaged from an old hardware store storage display cabinet, these awesome vintage dovetail wood drawers can be used in so many practical ways. Turn the drawers on their sides and use them as shelves in your craft room or office to organize your supplies. Display the drawers facing forward and show off the cool metal hardware pulls and old advertising labels.

The drawers are old, dating at least from the 1910s - 1920s. They were used in a hardware store and show typical wear for furniture used to store and display merchandise. The drawers have dings, scrapes, chips, small holes from removed nails or staples, uneven patina, tape residue, and lots and lots of character.

Listing is for one (1) drawer. Six (6) drawers are currently available.

Each drawer measures approximately 10 1/4" deep x 6" wide x 7" tall.

Stop staring at me!

This vintage eye model will have everyone staring at it. Made in Germany by Somso, the famous anatomy model maker, The eye is a work of art. Somso models are individually hand assembled, and painted with exactly detail and anatomical accuracy. The science model is sturdy and in great condition. The anatomy model comes apart revealing the inner structure of the eye.

From the estate of an ophthalmologist, the model eyeball dates from the late 1950s, and was designed for use by medical students. The model is clean and shows minimal wear. All six original parts are present. Various points are marked with numerals, but the corresponding guide is lost to time.

The eyeball model would make an interesting prop or decor accent no matter where you choose to display it.

The eye model stands approximately 7 3/4 inches tall fully assembled.

Vintage hardwood ribbon shuttle loom comes with a bobbin and spool of purple thread. This interesting industrial relic from the American textile industry dates from the early 20th century.

Handcrafted from hard wood, most likely maple, the ribbon shuttle loom was made in Philadelphia by Riehl & Son, a textile machinery company known for the high-quality woodworking of their narrow fabric looms.

From the estate of a family that owned a ribbon mill Paterson, N.J., the ribbon shuttle loom is in very good condition showing typical wear for an industrial tool. There are no cracks in the hardwood. The shuttle and loom show some dust soiling and there is residue of machine oil on the bottom of the loom.

The shuttle measures approximately 9 inches long.
The loom measures approximately 5 inches by 4 1/2 inches.

This impressive tower of new-old-stock vintage silk ribbon makes a beautiful display. The ribbon can certainly be used in craft & sewing projects, for millinery, or mixed media art, yet the ribbon stack can stand on its own as a textile decor accent in a studio or craft room.

Made in Paterson, N.J. by the Charles E. Roberts company in the early part of the 20th century, the silk ribbon trim was woven in bright blue, red, and gold stripes.

This listing is for a lot of five (5) ribbon spools. Each spool has its original label and is in unused condition. Three (3) spools are marked "Mfg. Chas. E. Roberts C.E.R. Brand Paterson, N.J." Two (2) spools, although manufactured at the same mill, are marked "S & W Irene New York." Each spool contains 10 yards of ribbon.

Spools are approximately 4 inches in diameter and measures approximately 7 1/4 inches tall when stacked up.

Vintage photography memory booklets are a nifty way to capture your school days. These keepsake memento photo albums are a simple folded card with cartoon figures depicting the classic school personalties such as "My Favorite Teacher," "The Class Queen," "Big Shot," among others.

The cartoons are so sweet and very retro. Manufactured by National School Studios, Inc, circa1950s, these charming booklets are in great condition for their age. Two of them are smooth card stock and are slightly yellowed. Two of them are textured card stock, are slightly narrower, and have yellowed a bit more.

Party Time For Boys and Girls vintage vinyl LP record harks back to the days when most children's birthday parties consisted of cake, ice cream, a round of hokey pokey, and pin the tail on the donkey.

A bit of baby boomer nostalgia, this recording of classic children's music from the 1950s captures all the party favorites.

The cover graphic is just so retro and awesome. Frame it and hang it on the wall. It would make a great gag birthday gift for a baby boomer. The cover would also make interesting wall decor in a nursery or child's room.

This record album is more for show than for play. There is a scratch which may effect the albums full playability. The album sleeve has separated along the bottom, but is otherwise in good shape.

The album sleeve includes instructions for playing the Hokey Pokey, Counting Song, Here We Go Looby-Loo, I'm a Little Tea-Pot and the Bunny Hop. The sleeve also has extensive "technical data" describing the recording process, frequency ranges and how to play the record.

Vintage illustrated children's textbook from the 1920s, this rare copy of Nelson's Geography Practice: Geography in Pictures reminds us how much the world has changed in a century.

Illustrations include photographs, black and white drawings, color plates, and art reproductions. Published in Great Britain by Thomas Nelson & Sons Ltd., the antiquated text gives an interesting insight into Britain's former colonial dynasty.

Title page stamped "Specimen" in ink with "1929" written in pencil. Two letter/number codes on the inside cover in blue pencil, possibly based on dewey decimal classification numbers as the 900 sequence begins the class for history and geography.
