Large chalkware parrot statue makes a big statement without uttering a word. Beautifully sculptured from chalkware plaster, the parrot has wonderful detailing, and would make an amazing decor accent in a tropical themed room or sun porch.

The parrot is heavy, and measures approximately 17 1/4 inches long and 5 inches across at its widest point. The bird statue has a long indentation along the bottom of the perch as well as a hole as if it was made to fit into a stand. The parrot is old and shows the passage of time. It has some nicks and dings and some spots of paint loss.

Rare set of Thomas Cards Ship Lights and Signals and Pilot Rules contains 51 cards showing light signals for vessels traveling in international and inland waters. Each card has a drawing of a ship and signal lights on one side and an explanation on the reverse side. The interesting graphics show the proper signal lights for daytime, nighttime, in fog, passing signals, danger signal, astern signal, leaving pier signal, and pilot rules. The set includes 3 additional cards with nautical shipping definitions, information on special signals, speed in fog, distress signals, and a statement of the General Prudential Rule.

Cards are in very good condition and come in their original box. Box shows wear around the edges.

Vintage molded plastic angel holy water font has great detail and charm. A classic angel holds a sea shell-styled font decorated with the scared heart symbol on the front and a cross & flower motif inside. There is a marker mark on the back and a "# 19."

The piece has a lovely delicate look and feel. Hang it on a wall by itself or grouped with other vintage religious items.

This font has been used and has a nice patina of age. The gold paint on the cross is worn away from use.

Overall dimension -- 5 3/8" tall x 2 3/4" at the wide point x 1 3/4" deep. Font measures 2 1/2" wide 1" high x 1 1/8" deep.

Rare late 1930s pre-World War II Cram's Universal Terrestrial 9 inch illuminated globe shows Italian East Africa (formed in 1936), as well as British Somaliland, which was conquered and annexed by Italy in 1940. There are no indications of Nazi expansion in Europe.

The vintage globe has an Art Deco metal base and half meridian, and a pull chain to activate the internal light. The electrical cord is more modern than the globe indicating that it was replaced at some point. The light works, but the globe has darkened so much from age that it gives off a very very faint glow.

The globe has a lovely vintage patina. The dark blue oceans contrast beautifully against the straw tones of the continents. The globe is soiled and there is some cracking of the pasteboards, sections of the equatorial band are missing, and there is some separation at the Equator through Africa. Please look closely at the photographs. I'd be happy to send you additional photographs of this fine globe.

Cool assortment of vintage wood-handled natural-bristle paint brushes make a great display. Use them as decor in your craft room or art studio, or as a photo prop.

The lot includes eight (8) paint brushes. Six of these high-quality paintbrushes (including the large pure bristle Grumbacher, Red Sable Round, El Greco, & White Bristle Flat) may also be used as intended if you wish, as their bristles are still supple. Two of the brushes have harden bristles.

Paint brushes all have wood handles with metal plates holding the bristles in place. The brushes have a nice paint-splashed patina. These are vintage brushes and show wear.

Largest brush, the Grumbacher, measures just over 13 inches long.
Smallest brush, Red Sable Round Japan, measures approximately 9 1/2 inches long.

This wonderful tartan comes with a curious label from "Oz Maren Wizardry of Oz." I couldn't find any information about this textile company, but the tag indicates their business address was 180 Madison Avenue in New York City. Maren is the last name of one of the Wizard of Oz Lollipop Guild Munchkins from the 1939 film. Could there possibly be a link?

From the estate sale of woman who did a lot of sewing back in the late 1950s to early 1970s, this wonderful fabric is in "as new" vintage condition.

Fabric is over 10' (feet) long (a generous 3 yards) x 57" wide.

Don't think I could have explained the contents of this work as well as the title pages of this two-volume antique leather bound edition of this historically significant military and civil study of the late 1700s and early 1800s Europe and United States.

Thoroughly readable, these fully-illustrated antique history books would also look fabulous as props or in your home or office library.

The books are in the general condition you would expect from leather-bound volumes from the mid-1800s. The leather is worn at the edges, with some scuffs and scrapes, the corners are bumped. There is foxing on the pages throughout the books. Volume II has staining on the cover and on the lower right-hand side through approximately the first third of the book and then again on pages towards the back of the book. Heavily illustrated, each engraving is protected with a tissue-sheet cover. There are portrait engravings of many of the major military & political figures of the time including Napoleon Bonaparte, his wife, Josephine, group portraits of British Admirals, Alexander I, to mention just a few. Each volume has hand-marbled endpapers and marbled edges. Bindings are tight. Previous owner signed his name twice in pencil in the front of volume two.

The set was published in Philadelphia in 1849 by Thomas Davis. Volume I has 602 pages. Volume II has 599 pages.

Adorable vintage copper vase in the shape of an ancient amphora, use this tiny vessel to display some pretty little posies. My imagination sees the miniature vase filled with violets.

Not exactly sure of the dating or provence of this small amphora. Bought at an estate sale, the story was that it was a tourist souvenir brought home sometime in the 1960s from Italy or Greece.

The tiny vase is in good condition. The copper has a nice patina. There is a small spot of verdigris near one of the handles.

This copy of The New York Almanac from 1890 is in near mint condition. The advertising almanac produced by Castoria is new old stock and has never been used or fully opened.

The cover has an amazing lithograph print of New York harbor at night under a full moon showing the newly erected Statue of Liberty (1886). The bottom left-hand corner of the almanac pamphlet refers to the lithograph as "New York Harbor by Moonlight showing Statue of Liberty," but does not reference the artist. The print is suitable for framing.

Produced to promote Pitcher's Castoria oil (later renamed Fletcher's Castoria) The New York Almanac contains a calendar for 1890, astronomical information including the rising and setting of the sun and moon, and phases of the moon phases.

The antique almanac is filled with illustrations of healthy babies and testimonials from proud parents about the wonders of Pitcher's Castoria oil. The almanac's back cover has a lithograph of a beauty, healthy young girl. This copy of The New York Almanac was given away "Compliments of Geo. W. Smith, Mattawamkeag, Me. dealers in Dry Goods, Groceries and Crockery, Drugs, Medicines and Paints, Hats and Caps, Boots and Shoes, Hardware, Tinware and Stoneware, House and Farm, Utensils, & c., &c." -- in simpler terms, a general store. The George W. Smith house in Mattawamkeag, Maine is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The almanac has its original blue cord for hanging in a convenient place for easy consultation.

Measures approximately 7 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches.

This Chase Hand Painted Japan ceramic angel figurine was originally part of a larger set of choir cherubs. The angel is robed in white and has a 1940s hairstyle. The angel holds a scroll of music.

Made in the late 1940s - early 1950s, this angel is a classic mid-century Christmas decoration produced in Japan for the American market.

The angel statue is in good vintage condition showing typical wear including some paint loss. She has her original Chase Hand Painted label and is marked "Japan" in red.

Designed for traveling, this antique inkwell has a clever barrel shape with a push button activated lid. The inkwell has a great patina of age and comes with its original glass ink pot insert. The non-magnetic metal inkwell has a worn brass finish on the outside and a silver tone metal inside.

The inkwell dates from the 19th century and is well over 100-years old. It shows considerable signs of use and age. The interior has ink residue and some corrosion. The glass ink pot insert has a few flea bits around the rim and blue ink residue inside. There is a small dent on the front of the barrel near the push button. The push button is in good working order. A previous owner etched the number "06" on the bottom.

The vintage travel guide has a lovely dark turquoise cloth cover and gold gilt lettering on the spine making it an attractive book for decor or a prop.

Beautiful antique glass buttons were made the old-fashion way, glass canes cut by hand, mold pressed, and furnace fired. Genuine antiques, these black glass buttons are small works of art.

Dating from the late Victorian era - early Edwardian era, the glass buttons have a faceted floral design and a metal shank on the back.

The button surfaces are in beautiful condition. Each button is a little gem. The metal shanks show a patina of age.

Made by Idealite, in Jersey City, N.J. back in the 1930s, this rare vintage globe light fixture features a steel transfer painted orb set in a cast metal meridian lamp. The vintage world globe has gold oceans, a time dial at the top, and spins freely in its full meridian frame.

The metal globe is unmarked, but was most likely made by J. Chein, the toy manufacturer, who produced globes for various lamp companies from the 1920s to the 1960s. The early 1930s globe shows British Somaliland, Italian Somaliland (dissolved in 1936 upon the formation of Italian East Africa), French West Africa, Belgian Congo, Rhodesia, Persia, and Chosen.

The vintage lamp has its original cloth electrical cord and light bulb socket. The light fixture works, but is not up to current electrical codes. It is suggested that the electrical wiring be upgraded to current standards before using the lamp as a light source.

Globe has a 6 inch diameter.
Light fixture is approximately 11 1/2 inches tall.
Marked Idealite Inc. Jersey City, N.J. on top of metal meridian.
Globe and metal base show age approximate wear including some paint loss, soiling, dings, and general wear.

Vintage chalkware kitchen Madonna & child statue, this charming religious statuary was made in Italy by Depositato. The high quality Madonna statue has lovely details with a haloed baby Jesus reaching up towards the loaf of bread Mary holds in her hand.

This is a circa 1950s chalkware statue. It was loved and displayed by its previous owner. The baby Jesus and Madonna figurine is clean with no grime. There is some paint loss and chips in the chalkware most notably on the feet, Mary's hands, hair, and veil. The religious statue is marked "Kitchen Madonna" on its base, has its original red Depositato "Made in Italy" label on the bottom, and a 1955 copyright stamp on the back.

Statue measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall x 3 1/2 inches wide x 2 1/8 inches deep.

This first edition of the Dominican Tertiaries' Manual published by the Third Order of St. Dominic in 1952 and printed by The Rosary Press is in beautiful vintage condition. The small Catholic prayer book has a black leather cover, two attached ribbon bookmarks, gold title lettering on the cover and spine, and gold and red gilt paper edges.

This is a genuine vintage copy of the Dominican Tertiaries' Manual printed in 1952 not a recent reprint. The book is in very good condition with fading to the ribbon bookmarks and a few light pencil notations. The binding is tight.
