Established in 1839, the Provident Bank of New Jersey, referred to itself as the "Beehive Bank," a bank for the working person. The beehive symbolized the hard work of laborers, servants, artisans, & shopkeepers.

Back in the day, banks frequently gave out gifts, usually toasters to entice people to open up new accounts, and piggy banks to encourage people to save money, which in turn they would deposit into their accounts.

Made by Plastique Unique of Santa Monica, California, this yellow beehive bank dates to the 1970s and is in very good condition.

Colorful vinyl-coated cardboard picture records, this Playsong Records collection of wild west country western cowboy songs is in its original packaging -- truly a rare find. Size 8 1/2 vintage woven ecru linen Bonwit Teller "Venus" t-straps are the perfect summer shoes for the office, special occasion, or whenever you want to wear sophisticated footwear. Fine handmade craftsmanship make this a pair of shoe that you will have for years to come.

The shoes are in remarkable condition. The fine leather soles are virtually new. The linen has "rusted" a bit in places, and there is a very small black mark on the left shoe. The spot is so close to the sole that it is barely noticeable when worn. The spot and rusting may come out with cleaning. I will leave this up to you and a good shoe marker. The size and department store code are hand written on the inside of the strap.

Hang a piece of history on your wall. This dramatic Cold War era propaganda poster was a winner in the Marshall Plan European Recovery Program's 1950 poster contest promoting European unity and cooperation.

Designed by Swedish artist Erik Oelmebo, the art poster shows all the European countries involved with the Marshall Plan pulling together to accomplish "Samarbette for Fred, Frihet, Hogre Levnadsstandard" -- Co-operation for Peace, Freedom, and a Higher Standard of Living.

This poster is an original lithograph from 1950 and is in remarkable condition for its age. It was part of the estate of a graphic artist who collected all 25 winning posters in the Marshall Plan poster contest. The posters were all stored flat in a drawer in a climate-controled studio. The poster shows some wear around the edges with very small tears, but no paper loss. The colors are vibrant.

This poster has never been rolled and will ship flat.

Put this rare space age satellite toy pencil sharpener on your desk and you'll be the envy of the office.

Made from a metal orb lithographed with atomic age spaceship designs, the small pencil sharpener has a plastic band around the middle with protruding yellow spikes giving the toy a sputnik look.

The vintage pencil sharpener would make a fun gift!

Alas, the rare little space age object is not perfect. Please note that the tips of the yellow spikes are broken off. The plastic red pencil sharpener base jiggles, but is secure. There does not appear to be a way to open the metal orb to empty the sharpener of shavings. The sharpening device is dull but functional. There is light general wear to the lithograph and a few dings. The price reflects these flaws.

St. Joseph Daily Missal 1957 Completely Revised Edition, this Catholic prayer book features the "the Ordinary of the Mass" in both English and Latin, the Proper of the Season, Proper of the Saints, and the Liturgical Year with a table of moveable feasts.

Obviously not used by a daily church goer, the missal is in excellent vintage condition. The black leatherette cover has a "M.R." gold gilt initial monogram.

Fully illustrated with decorative end papers, color art reproductions, black & white line drawings, and red ink highlighting, the volume has a red edging and 5 ribbons for place marking. Binding is tight, pages are clean.

Vintage circa 1959 mid century 10 1/2 inch Cram's Universal Terrestrial globe No. 105 on a modern wire stand, this reference globe has a full meridian & analemma showing the sun's declination for every day in the year, ocean currents, and trade routes shown in statute miles.

Vietnam has been divided into north & south. You'll find the Belgian Congo (1908 - 1960), French West Africa (1895 - 1960), French Equatorial Africa (1910 - 1959), North Rhodesia, South Rhodesia, Bechuanaland (1885 - 1966), none of which exist today. Tunisia is independent from France (1956), and Tanganyika Territory & Zanzibar have not united to form Tanzania.

The globe is made of coated paper gores over pressboard and has a gold-tone wire base with black rubber feet to protect your table surface. It has a full metal meridian and a night/day dial at the top. The globe spins freely and swivels in an articulated frame for easy viewing.

This globe is in a amazing condition for its age. It was closet stored. The globe is clean. The colors are bright. It comes with its original Cram's Outer Space and World Globe Handbook (1959). There is one small bit of paper loss in the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and California (see photograph 4).

Miniature ceramic blue & white Scottie dog figurine captures the spirit of the Scottish Terrier breed in his proud stance. Marked "Japan" in red on his underside, this mid-century doggie is super sweet and ready to join your collection.

In 1941, Jack Goldberg won this 3rd place silver medal most likely for his musical ability as the prize has a Greek lyre on it. Today, this Art Deco collegiate award would make a cool conversation piece pinned onto a jacket or coat.

The prize medal looks as if it was never removed from its velvet display board. It has the letters "EE" set in blue enamel which could possibly represent the letters of fraternity or academic society.

The medal is in very good vintage condition. It does have some tarnish mostly on the jump ring connecting the medal to the ribbon.

Measurements: Display board measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/4". The medal measures 1" x 3/4" not including the ribbon section.

Rare Mary Pickford rouge compact would make a great gift for a compact collector or Hollywood star enthusiast.

America's sweetheart, silent film star, academy award winner, producer, author, business woman, co-founder of the Society of Independent Motion Picture Producers, Mary Pickford was quite a character on and off the screen.

In 1938, she founded a short-lived cosmetic company. This rare compact with Pickford's portrait profile and signature is a rare surviving relic of her brief foray into cosmetic production.

The compact is in very good condition showing light wear to the enamel for its age. It closes securely. The rouge cake has been lightly used and retains its "Mary Pickford" embossing. The rouge cake is loose and appears as though it would fall out of the compact should you turn it over and not support the rouge cake. I have not attempted to do so, as I would not want to break the cake. The rouge applicator puff has Mary Pickford's profile image. The small white enamel compact has a raised profile portrait of Mary Pickford on the front and her signature on the back. The compact has a sticker label on the back identifing the rouge as "Light California Sunrise No. 2." The mirror is in good condition.

Compact measures 1 5/8" in diameter.

Andre Gide's Les Caves Du Vatican (The Vatican Cellars), a French literature classic and an outstanding example of Modernist fiction, was first published in 1914 about the same time as the outbreak of WW I. Classified as a novel, Gide referred to his work as a "sotie," a form of parody or satirical play dating from the Middle Ages.

Yes, it's in French. And, yes, it contains irony.

This Le Livre de Poche (pocket book) edition published by Galliard is in very good to excellent condition. The spine is so tight, it's possible that this copy has never been read. Why not be the first. And, if you don't want to read it, display it. The cover art is just beautiful.

Oh dear, this moose is so cute. I couldn't resist picking him up at a recent estate sale despite his flaws. Made by Copr Ornamental Arts & Crafts, this chalkware moose figurine is amazingly detailed, and would be the perfect accent for your rustic home decor or man cave retreat.

I couldn't find much information on Copr Ornamental. They were known for making chalkware TV lamps in the 1950s.

The moose is in fair vintage condition. It looks as if his head has been repaired. He is missing a portion of his surrounding forest vignette (please see photograph three). There is some paint loss and nicks. The back of the piece is flat and could easily be incorporated into a new work of moose art.

Piece measures approximately 9" long x 6 3/4" tall x 3 1/4" deep. It is impressed along the upper back edge "Copr Ornamental Arts & Crafts."

Made by Apollo Studios New York, this beautiful brass maple leaf dish is a small work of art. The cast metal leaf has veining details and a graceful shape.

A division of Bernard Rice's & Sons,, Apollo Studios produced decorative household and vanity items in New York City from 1909 to 1922. A contemporary of the legendary Tiffany Studios, Apollo produced many similar items in the style of the time.

The brass leaf is in good antique condition. It was used in its time and shows evidence of wear, including spotting and light scratches. The piece has a lovely patina.

The leaf is bottom marked "Apollo" along with the mold number 6931.

The leaf is approximately 7 inches long including the stem by 4 1/4 inches wides.

These small silver plate individual serving vessels were once used in Italian hotels. Dating from the 1930s, I'm not sure of their original purpose, but you could use them for butter, lemon slices, as tea bag holders, individual creamers or salad dressing servers, etc.

Two of the vessels are bottom marked "Hôtels Giacomelli." The other vessel is bottom marked "Albergo Tettuccio" and is also marked "Broggi." Fratelli Broggi Milano made silver plate serving wear for the hotel and steamship trade.

The vessels will come to you with a beautiful patina of age acquired over the years. If you prefer your silver plate polished, please use a gentle cleaning method as these are vintage plated pieces.

Look closely at the photographs and you will see that the vessels vary ever so slightly in size, averaging approximately 4 inches across including the handle by 2 inches across by 1 1/2 inches tall.

An interesting relic from an old Catholic Church, this brass monstrance altar piece plate once adorned the front of a pulpit. The vintage brass plate shows a chalice with a host emanating rays of light.

The beautifully wrought brass design has great detail. The brass plate is heavy and has a slight curve to it as it was once affixed to the front of a pulpit. The brass is in very good condition and shows a light patina of age.
