Fibber McGee and the Wistful Vista Mystery - A Hilarious Party Game by Milton Bradley Company - is a game based on the popular radio comedy show Fibber McGee and Molly which aired on NBC from 1935 through 1959. This game set has a 1940 copyright and comes with an assortment of cards with phrases, game chips, and an instruction story book.

The chosen game narrator reads the story, and at a blank in the story a player pulls a phrase card and reads it, inserting a hilarious or bizarre element to the tale. The game reminds me of Mad Libs, the phrasal template game created in the late 1950s. Could the originator of Mad Libs gotten his idea from Fibber?

I do not think the game is complete. The instruction story booklet refers to "a number of printed cards," "a flock of colored counters," and "30 blank cards." There are 9 blank cards in the box.

Vintage world geography school textbook is filled with information about the world on the brink of the Great Depression. Published in 1928 by The McMillan Company, the world atlas has over 30 full-page color maps.

The book covers Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Africa, Polar Regions, and Latin American, as well as general world geographic information.

This former school book hails from school No. 7 in Bayonne, N.J. It has a Bayonne school system bookplate pasted on the front endpaper.


The book is in good condition showing typical wear for a school textbook and its age. The cover is worn around the edges and spine, the corners are bumped, there are a few stray pen & pencil marks on the back cover, and soiling. The endpapers are browned with age. A few pages at the back of the book have some smudges, but over all this is a good, clean with beautiful color maps.

Published in 1947, this early Cold War era pamphlet is an interesting political history document. This vintage booklet is part of a series of anti-Communist pamphlets distributed by the Catholic Information Society which advertised itself as "The most fearless and factual exposé of Communism ever published."

Without a shred of irony, the vintage pamphlet outlines the Soviet imperialistic "Red Drive" against the colonies of the former imperialistic Europe countries.

An Attempt to Discriminate the Styles of Architecture in England from the Conquest to the Reformation: With a Sketch of the Grecian and Roman Orders by Thomas Rickman (1776–1841) is a substantial and important architectural reference book. The book is also known as "Rickman's Gothic Architecture."

Beginning with a overview of Roman and Greek influences, Rickman goes on to detail English architecture from the time of the Norman Conquest (1066) to English Reformation (1547). Richly illustrated with detailed drawings and engraved plates, the book is a delight to see and read. Rickman was a successful architect of Anglican churches and an authority on Gothic architecture.

This is the sixth edition of the book published in 1862 "with considerable additions, chiefly historical, by John Henry Parker, F.S.A." The antique book is in its original quarter leather binding. The binding is tight and the leather is in good condition with typical wear at the edges and corners. The decorative binding has gold detailing and lettering on the spine. The front cover cloth shows wear (see photograph three). There is soiling on the page edges at the top right corner. Paper is yellowing consistent with age of the book. Former owner's name and address written in pencil in front of book.

I was immediately drawn to this unusual brass lion sculpture. Wonderfully imaged, this brass lion has interesting primitive anthropomorphic facial features and a stylized mane.

From a world traveler's estate, I am unsure of the lion's provenance. The piece has no markings, but clearly looks handmade. The seller's best guess was that her father acquired it on a business trip to Asia back in the late 1960s or early 1970s.

The lion is in very good vintage condition.

This stunniing edition of Goethe's Faust has amazing illustrations by Harry Clarke, a leading figure in the Irish Arts and Craft Movement. Published in 1930s by Three Sirens Press, this edition of Goethe's masterpiece was translated into English in the original metres by Bayard Taylor.

The book is in good condition showing typical wear for a book its age. The book does not have a dust jacket. The upper cover corners are bumped and beginning to fray. There is wear on the cover and at the top and bottom of the spine. Endpapers are browned from age and there is some browning at the edges of the pages. The illustrations are in beautiful condition. There is a gift inscription written in blue pen on the front endpaper:

Antique chocolate pot from Japan's Meiji Period, this fine example of Kutani porcelain has a floral bird motif, & porcelain handle and spout made to look like bamboo.

The chocolate pot, which could double as a teapot, has the Kutani mark on the bottom and is in overall good condition showing typical wear. The pot does have a crack on the top near the handle -- please see photograph four (4) -- which is reflected in the price.

This is the sweetest miniature white duck. Or, is it a gosling, or white goose? Super tiny and as adorable, this vintage ceramic figure is a mere 1 3/8" long and just shy of an inch tall. He is in a swimming pose with his eyes shut and head held high.

Not sure where he was made, but he looks very much like a Hagen Renaker duck figurine.

In very good vintage condition, the figure has no cracks, chips or crazing. It does have what appears to be glue markings on the bottom, perhaps from a removed tag. Please see photograph four.

Designed by Dutch artist Emil Hotz, green leaves growing out of barbed wire symbolize new beginnings after the devastation of World War 2. A winning entry in the European Recovery Program (ERP) Marshall Plan's Intra-European Cooperation for a Better Standard of Living 1950 poster contest, this is a genuine piece of Cold War era political propaganda.

The ERP or Marshall Plan (1948 - 1951), conceived by George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff during WW II & Truman's Secretary of State, aimed to politically stabilize & rebuild the economies of war-torn European countries while hindering the spread of Communism.

A panel of graphic artists selected 25 winning posters from over 10,000 entries. The posters are graphically stunning pieces of political propaganda and historically interesting bits of ephemera from the early Cold War era.

This is an original lithograph not a reproduction. The poster is in remarkable condition for its age. It was part of the estate of a graphic artist who collected all 25 winning posters in the Marshall Plan poster contest. The posters were all stored flat in a drawer in a climate-controled studio. The poster shows some wear around the edges with very small tears, but no paper loss. The colors are vibrant. I have encased the poster in a removable archival sleeve (acid free Krystal Seal).

This poster was never rolled and has been stored flat. It will ship to you flat.

Benzion Witler (1907-1961) was a Jewish singer, actor, comedian & composer. This 10" vinyl 33 1/3 RPM record made in Israel by Felstad Records includes five of his compositions and three traditional Jewish folk songs.

I gave the records a spin and it plays great. And, it's so good, I couldn't stop listening to it!

The recording is not dated but research indicates that it is from the late 1950s.

This vintage owl Christmas card was once part of a Henri Fayette greeting card sample book. Use this wide-eyed owl as a holiday decoration or in a scrapbooking project. The owl's arms open out and the body lifts up revealing a blank space for writing a personalize holiday greeting.

The card does not have its original envelope, but I will send the card to you with a replacement vintage envelope.

The owl is 7" tall and 5 1/8" at his widest point and is marked "Henri Fayette Chicago U.S.A." on his back. He has a spot on his back where he was once attached to a sample book page. Hallmark purchased the Henri Fayette company in 1957.

Vintage paper Christmas napkins in their original decorative "Happy Holidays" box can be used for cocktails, luncheon, or for craft projects, including decoupage. Napkins have a red and green holly leaf and berry motif with gold embellishments.

These beautiful vintage paper napkins were made in Denmark and date back to the 1960s. The box is in very good condition and has an interesting shape. The box contains fourteen of its original twenty napkins. One napkin is slightly yellowed from age, the other thirteen are in very good condition.

When opened, the napkins are approximately 13" in diameter. Folded, the napkins measure approximately 9 1/4" x 7" in a fan shape.

Ornaments not included.

Vintage brass letter opener advertises the Globe Printing Co. of Philadelphia, a manufacturer of sales boards and advertising cards. This cool old desk essential would make a great gift for your retro-loving office colleague or boss.

The vintage letter opener is a good size, measuring just over 8 1/2 inches long, and has a nice heft to it. Two Globe Printing brass advertising plates are riveted onto each side of the letter opener's handle.

The letter opener is old and shows signs of wearing including scratches and some oxidation spots on the brass and a few nicks along the blade edge.

This small anti-Communist pamphlet published by the Catholic Information Society introduced Catholics to Aloysius Stepinac, the Archbishop of Zagreb, defender of the Jews during World War II, and to the complex politics of Yugoslavia. The pamphlet is essentially a plea to Americans to urge the United States government to take formal action against Stephinac's imprisonment by Josep Tito's regime.
